Profile

Gordon Drummond is a Scottish cricketer who started his career playing for the Meigle Cricket Club. He is a bowling all-rounder who made his ODI debut for Scotland in their narrow defeat to West Indies in July 2007. Two years after his debut, he captained the team for the first time in an Intercontinental Cup match against Canada. It was a fantastic game for him as he scored a fifty in the first innings and took 2 wickets following it up with a 34 in the second innings that helped them with a 29-run win.

Drummond's best ODI performance came against Canada when he picked up 4/41 in the second game to help the team level a two-match series. He had passed on the captaincy to Gavin Hamilton for that game, who also led Scotland in the the World T20 Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi. However, when Hamilton struggled with captaincy, Drummond once again took over that role before the World Cricket League Division One tournament in July 2010.

Drummond relished captaincy until 2013 when he stepped down from the position after deciding he was not able to commit enough of his time to the job. He argued that although he wants to continue playing, he needed to justify his place in the side.
