Profile

Australian-born Michael Richard Swart is a part of the Netherlands national cricket team. Formerly, he has played for Western Australia in Australian domestic matches. Swart was a part of the state under-19 team in 2000 and 2001. He made his List A debut for Western Australia against South Australia in 2010. In May 2010 he was awarded a contract with the Warriors for the 2010–11 season. He then scored his maiden century in October 2010 against Victoria.

Just a few months later, in February 2011, Swart was asked to be a part of the Netherlands cricket team at the 2011 World Cup due to an injury to skipper Peter Borren. His father was born in Netherlands enabling Swart to hold a Dutch passport. However, with Borren's injury not looking as serious as earlier thought, Swart did not represent Netherlands during the tournament. After having a falling out with the Warriors over dispute with a fellow player, Swart's contract with the team was not renewed for the 2011/2012 season. He then signed with the Bootle Cricket Club in England .

Swart made his ODI debut for Netherlands in June 2011 against Scotland but has not been a permanent fixture in the team. His T20I debut for the country came in March 2012 against Canada and in comparison, he has achieved better success in that format of the game. Swart was a part of the Netherlands' team in the 2014 ICC World T20, however, did not make any significant contribution in the tournament.
