Profile

South Africa-born Max Christian Sorensen moved to Ireland in his teens and since then has been a regular face in the Irish side. He was a part of the Irish squad for their tour of Kenya in February 2012. During the Kenyan leg of the tour, Sorensen made his First-Class debut in the Intercontinental Cup in 2012. He had a slow start to his career being dismissed for duck twice.

Sorensen was not selected for the ODI series that followed, but he made his T20I debut soon after. In his first game, he took two wickets and finished with impressive figures of 2/17. His first ODI game came a year later against England in September 2013. Enjoying better success in the shorter format of the game, Sorensen was a member of the Irish squad in the 2014 World T20. However, he did not contribute significantly in the competition.

Surprisingly, he was left out of Ireland's 2015 World Cup squad initially. However, Ireland's ace bowler Tim Murtagh was ruled out with a fractured foot just three weeks before the tournament, thus allowing Sorensen to be named as a replacement.
