Profile

A product of the under-19 system, Udara Jayasundera sprung to the limelight with his consistent scores in the U-19 World Cup in 2010 and in the tournaments leading up to that. A left-handed batsman by trade, he started off pretty early with Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club, his First Class side.

He made a mark for himself catching the selectors’ eye with an impressive century, against the touring West Indians in a practice match in 2015, following which he was picked into the national squad. His debut though later in the year against New Zealand was far from impressive, with single digit scores in either innings. Nevertheless, he remains a key player waiting in the wings in the redevelopment phase that Sri Lankan cricket is going through at the moment.
