Profile

Umaid Asif became an overnight sensation back in Pakistan courtesy of a stupendous spell on his PSL debut. Playing for Peshawar Zalmi in Pakistan Super League 2018, Asif struck Islamabad United like thunder with a 4-wicket haul - as a result of which the defending champions managed to register their first win of the season. Asif had a chance to grab a 5-for too, but a dropped catch meant he missed out on the feat. Had that catch been taken, it would have been an even more memorable debut.

Leagues like PSL assist many uncapped players to showcase their talent and skills to the world. And Asif who's only a couple of months away from turning 34, would be pleased with himself after such an imposing performance. Just like numerous other players from Pakistan, Asif has also played for Khan Research Laboratories. However, in 2014 he was banned by Pakistan Cricket Board for one year after testing positive for an outlawed substance.

Asif's ability to pick wickets at regular intervals makes him one of the hot prospects of PSL season 2018. If the bowling all-rounder makes most of out of the opportunities that are presented to him, Asif might also get a chance to play in other T20 leagues across the globe.
