Profile

Long before representing his country, Scotland, Ruaidhri Smith impressed one and all with his all-round abilities at Glamorgan. Smith has a rhythmic approach to his bowling and can be more than handy with the bat lower down the order. Not many players get a chance to squeeze a wicket off the first ball in first-class cricket, but Smith was an exception. He not only plucked a wicket off his first ball, he also compiled a terrific hundred in his under 19 debut with Scotland in 2013.

By 2014, Smith was a regular of the second eleven side at Glamorgan and was pursuing a degree in Mathematics at Bristol University. He had a decent season the following year before completing the degree in 2016, a year that saw Smith claim a hat-trick against the visiting Pakistan side at Newport. Inevitably, he was awarded his maiden cap against Afghanistan in 2016 in Edinburgh. An abdominal injury however prevented Smith's progress in the following season.
