Profile

Tarasai Musakanda is a top-order batsman and a part-time medium pace bowler for Zimbabwe who made his ODI debut in the final of the tri-series featuring Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. In his opening match, he was trusted with the responsibility of batting at the vital number 3 spot. And the 23-year-old justified his selection, top scoring with 36 runs from 37 balls.

Muskanda's itinerary of representing Zimbabwe hasn't been a smooth one, he scored tons of runs in school cricket leading up to the 2012 under-19 World Cup. But despite his efforts, he was ignored from the World Cup squad that represented the country.

He left cricket for a while and focussed on rugby. Musakanda made the school team that went to South Africa to represent in the Craven Week rugby competition, one of the biggest rugby tournaments at the school level.

His focus returned to cricket and his consistent performance in the domestic cricket made him a part of the Zimbabwe ODI team in 2016. His Test debut was a calamity against Sri Lanka where he could manage only 6 runs but in the ODI format, he has a half-century under his belt in the 11 matches that he has been part of.
