Profile

Shahid came through the ranks of the Dhaka League system. The right-arm medium pacer, bowls off a long run-up and can constantly hit the 135kph mark. He is more known for his accuracy and ability to move the ball into the right-handers. Born in Narayanganj, Shahid played for Dhaka Division. In 2011-12, Shahid made his first class debut and in his maiden season itself picked up 15 wickets at an average 26.06.

However, things went downhill in the second season where he scalped only 5 wickets. But, came back strongly in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons - picking 18 wickets each. He also made sure his List A career came to notice when he played for Legends of Rupganj in the Dhaka Premier League, he picked 21 sticks for them.

A call to the national squad came when Pakistan toured Bangladesh. In his first three Tests, he snaffled 5 wickets, but was a touch expensive. His lack of penetration with the old ball came to the fore. With the likes of Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman growing in stature, Shahid should up his game to find a consistent place in the XI.
