That was some response from the Afghanistan team after the defeat in the last match. They brought their 'A' game to the fore when it mattered the most and overpowered the hosts in a hapless one-sided encounter. Mission 'IRELAND' accomplished and now mission 'ASIA' awaits them. They wouldn't be a pushover in that tournament too. They are steadily getting better and soon could challenge the best in the limited overs cricket. On that positive note for Afghanistan cricket. I, Varun Dixit take leave along with Kumar Abishek Das and Venky. Until next time, goodbye and take care.
Asghar Afghan, winning skipper: I will give credit to our fast bowlers. They were very good today. I will give credit to our fielding also. I congratulate to all the Afghanistan supporters specially to the ones who came and supported us.
William Porterfield, losing skipper: We batted poorly today and we made a modest total. Since then we were always up against it. We have lot of fixtures in the coming days. We need to do a lot of hard work in the winter.
Rashid Khan, Man of the Series: It is a pleasure for me to get Man of the Series in these conditions. Pitch isn't helpful here. I wasn't happy with my performance in the second ODI. I really enjoyed myself in the series.
A score of 124 from Ireland was never enough. Afghanistan did not even break a sweat to track this down. They lost Shahzad early but Janat and Rahmat Shah held fort. And after the break, Shahidi chipped in and helped Afghanistan track this total down. Ireland would be gutted given that they won the toss and decided to bat first. Hang on for the awards and the captain comments.
