SCO VS AFG - 1st ODI, Afghanistan tour of Scotland, 2019

Scotland vs Afghanistan

Match abandoned without a ball bowled (no toss)

A damp squib in the end. It's been a rainy day across the UK with the weather also delaying the start of the England-Pakistan ODI. However, that one has started just a while ago and so, those who want to catch some cricketing action can shift tabs. Edinburgh wasn't as fortunate as London, as the rain never relented at all. After a point of time, it was more about when the final call would come, rather than if the game would start. You can enjoy the Eng-Pak ODI and the IPL Eliminator isn't far away either. Shuffle between the tabs and enjoy. Until next time, it's goodbye from us.

14:21 Local Time, 13:21 GMT, 18:51 IST: That's it then. The inevitable has happened. Match abandoned!

13:29 Local Time, 12:29 GMT, 17:59 IST: Rain, rain and more rain. It's been that kind of day so far. Doesn't look like it will improve.

12:08 Local Time, 11:08 GMT, 16:38 IST: Persistent rain has forced the umpires to take the lunch break at 13:00 local, so the wait continues.

11:47 Local Time, 10:47 GMT, 16:17 IST: Official word is that the cut off time for a T20 contest is 16:17 local which means that there is still quite a bit of time left to force a game. However, the rain has to stop for starters and with the amount of beating that the outfield has taken, it's not going to be easy for the groundstaff.

11:10 Local Time, 10:10 GMT, 15:40 IST: Nothing much to update at present as the delay continues in Edinburgh.

10:38 Local Time, 09:38 GMT, 15:08 IST: Cricket Scotland tweets: "Overcast conditions and light rain are delaying the toss here at The Grange for the first ODI against Afghanistan."

Hello and welcome to this 2-match ODI series between Scotland and Afghanistan. As the clock is ticking for the ICC Cricket World Cup, this series serves as an opportunity for Afghanistan to get accustomed to the UK conditions ahead of the mega tournament. They are embarking a new era under the leadership of Gulbadin Naib, although they are missing a few stars in the squad, it's a chance for them to get their combinations right before the World Cup. Meanwhile, Scotland haven't played much of ODI cricket of late and their last ODI was against England last year where the hosts pulled off a thrilling 6-run win. Coetzer and Co. will be keen to put on a good show in front of their home crowd. FYI, the weather forecast for today in Edinburgh isn't that great with rain likely to play spoilsport. So, we will keep our fingers crossed. Stay tuned as we will bring you more updates.
