That's a wrap of the 3-match T20I series. A reality check for Afghanistan. They have been good in patches, but inexperience during cruch situations hurt them dearly. Asghar Stanikzai expressed content over his side's approach in today's game and reckoned they would only get better as the tour progresess. We have a 3-match ODI series coming up soon, with the first one starting on Friday. Do remember to join us. Until then, soak in the thrills of Champions Trophy. Cheers!!
Asghar Stanikzai: Overall, the team didn't perform well. Our batsmen needs to take a little more responsibility. Looking forward for the ODI series. If we play a lot of matches against full member nations, I'm sure we will get better. I would like to thank the West Indies team. They have played really well and showed us how to compete here.
Carlos Brathwaite: Don't think we bowled as well as we could have. It was a clinical performance. Marlon showed all his experience and class. Afghanistan played well today. But we stuck to our game plan. They have done really, really well. Afghanistan played a good series. They are a team improving consistently, but kudos to our boys who played a better series.
Marlon Samuels, winner of the Man of the Match and the Man of the series awards: I thought if a wicket falls, I'll go there and build a partnership. I got there and decided to stay till the end. Asked the guys to just bat around me. As a senior player, with the experience you have, you gotta play this role. I always tell juniors to rotate strike as much as possible. Once they start hitting, they can play shots like anything and like anybody else.
22:36 local: The chase done and dusted without breaking sweat. Ask Marlon Samuels how? He launched himself time and again, taking calculated risks, and in the process produced a man of the match performance. He hit his highest score in T20Is, and not to forget Jason Mohammed's contribution who manoeuvred strike often making sure Samuels doesn't lose his rhythm. Those little things and Afghanistan's shabby fielding meant West Indies maintain a clean slate so far in the tour.
