You don't have to be an ardent cricket follower or an Afghan to love Afghanistan's win tonight. You just have to be a believer of all things good in life - one being hope trumping miseries. What more could they do to deserve more matches against top sides? Today they have pulled off a win against two-time World Cup winners at their home. And they are on that path where more such victories will come for sure. Even as the world talks about the thrill Champions Trophy is getting into, Afghanistan have quietly made the most of the tour. As far as the hosts are concerned, the series was expected to be a healing balm to treat the wounds of missing out on the mini world-cup. What it has done instead is left it open, leaving them writhing in pain. They have changed the name to Windies. Has that helped? What Windies need is some serious hauling else further embarrassment beckons. That's it from all of us down here. Time to sleep. Bye

Rashid Khan, Man of the Match: We really needed this one after losing three consecutive T20Is. I just tried my best and gave 100 percent. The pitch actually was not that good for batsmen to score quick runs but the bowlers too did their job and bowled according to the plan. I worked a lot in the nets. I had the belief in myself. I would like to dedicate this Man of the Match award to the victims of the Kabul attack. We would like to give you reasons to smile, keep us in your prayers.

Asghar Stanikzai: We are very happy today. It is a big win for us. It has been a good day for us. We won the toss and batted first, our target was 220. We knew the conditions were good for spin and had set our target. We are looking forward to playing positive cricket. Congratulations to Rashid Khan for taking 7 wickets, he has showed how good he is. (Proceeds to thank the supporters in his native language).

Jason Holder: We just were not good. We lacked energy. The intent was not there the way we batted. We were 20 odd after first 10 overs and that is not expectable. Batsmen needed to put their hands up. We got to wake up and realize we are playing international cricket. We were not good enough today. We will try and improve come Sunday.

22:09 Local Time, 02:09 GMT, 07:39 IST: When they decided to bat it was thought to be a brave move, when they somehow crawled to 212.. it was touted as something respectable. But a few hours later, they have had the last laugh. West Indies looked clueless in the chase, were too defensive to begin with and when Rashid Khan came to strike back to back, they were exposed further. Rashid Khan's bowling performance - 8.4-1-18-7 - today is also the 4th best bowling figures in ODIs and it has helped Afghanistan script their own little history.
