So it's 1-0 to Afghanistan with four more ODIs to go. It was a case of Ireland getting starts and then throwing it away in the T20Is. The first ODI has gone the same way as well. They certainly would want fortunes to change. Afghanistan look a very confident team out there and they will be looking forward to taking the field again on Friday for the second ODI. Join us at 09:30 local time for all the action. That's it from us today then. Goodbye!

Stanikzai: "The first game is very important for every series. Credit goes to Dawlat and Rashid for the way they bowled. Dawlat is a good bowler when it is reversing."

Porterfield: "We should have won that game. We had a good partnership. It was harder for the new guys to start. We didn't have any other partnership than the big one we had."

Porterfield is the Man of the Match

When you lose 9 wickets for 92 runs, you don't deserve to win. Ireland were actually cruising when Porterfield and Stirling shared a 100-plus stand - 157 runs to be precise. But the way Afghanistan fought back was brilliant to watch. Rashid Khan had Stirling caught and bowled to break the stubborn partnership and then Dawlat Zadran's double-strike in the 37th over turned the tables completely. Spare a thought for Porterfield for playing a captain's knock. He smashed a hundred off just 83 balls, but none apart from Stirling gave him good company. If Rashid Khan troubled the Irish with his tweakers, Dawlat, with his Waqar Younisesque action, did it with reverse swing. The duo shared eight wickets and shattered all hopes in the Irish camp.
