Balbirnie is presented the trophy and the Ireland team are all smiles as they pose with it. They are elated. On that note we end our coverage of this game. There's still white-ball games to come on this tour. We will be there to bring it to you. Do join us then. Until next time, bye bye.

Andy Balbirnie | Ireland captain: I can't. We started the Test really well after losing the toss. The bowling was outstanding and really disciplined. It got a bit flatter in the 2nd innings and we showed it again. To take 20 wickets in any Test is a big achievement. With the score like that, you are one partnership away, the more time we spent there, the easier it got. Nerves but I knew if I could settle in there, we could win. It is right up there, currently there is a lot of talk about the relevance of Test cricket, played a lot of cricket for Ireland, a lot of players did not get the chance before, hopefully we will inspire a few back home to be Test cricketers. We knew it would be attritional stuff, swung a bit more than we expected on day 1, the spinners came in and created chances, tied down one end too. Deserved it. To win our 1st Test we are absolutely excited. There's a lot of cricket going on around the world, we know we are not going to get 10-15 Tests a year, but when we do, we will look to do well, very special to be a part of the group to have done that.

Hashmatullah Shahidi | Afghanistan captain: I think the first day when we were batting, we let ourselves down. Irish seamers bowled very well but we threw our wickets. The conditions was not good for batting, the ball was seaming, moving. We had some positives, Gurbaz batted very positively, Naved had a good Test in Sri Lanka and this Test also he did very well. Zia also had a fifer. It is always special and I congratulate them as it is their first win. We need to work hard in the future games.

Mark Adair | Player of the Match: I'm absolutely buzzing. The way the lads put out a few fires at the end. Happy to win. It's nice to be in here, I'm the innocent bystander in this group of seamers. Last year Test cricket was pretty difficult, we finished everytime on the losing side. This is a really stepping stone for us. The way we showed the length and depth of our batting is excellent and the way we finished it off was top-draw. We got a really good bowling group and that's what matters and probably the most experienced bowling group in a long time. New guys are coming in but the experienced ones are our core.

In Afghanistan's 2nd innings, Shahidi was the key but once he departed it was advantage Ireland. The last three wickets though frustrated Ireland as they added 44 and the target was 111. Naveed Zadran gave Afghanistan hope with 2 quick wickets but Balbirnie who went to open this game showed all his experience to give his side a maiden Test victory. Stay tuned for the presentation...

16:36 Local Time, 12:36 GMT, 18:06 IST: History for Ireland. They have won their first-ever Test. What a moment for them. They are all smiles, hugs and emotion out there. They deserved this win. Was a nervy chase and it got nervier when they slipped to 13/3 but the calmness of their skipper Balbirnie has taken them over the line. Tucker gave him fine company and the duo steered them home. Afghanistan tried their best with the meagre target they had in front of them but they needed more runs in this game. The game was set up on the first day when Ireland bowled Afghanistan out for 155 with seam and swing on offer. Afghanistan fought back with the ball through their SLA, Zia-ur-Rehman but the lead of 108 was always going to prove significant, which it did eventually.
