That's all from today's Asia Cup clash folks. We'll be back tomorrow with the live coverage of India vs Nepal. Probably going to be another rain-truncated game, but let's see what we have in store for us. For now, it's a goodbye from our side..
Mehidy Hasan, PoTM: Really happy. The team management believed in me so I played well today. It was a good wicket, the ball was coming well on to the bat nicely. It was an excellent partnership between Shanto and I. He has played well in back-to-back games. We rotated the strike nicely. When the conditions are hot you tend to cramp up, like I did today.
Shakib | BAN captain: We played really well all-round, it was a good toss to win. It wasn't easy to play in the heat. Mehidy and Shanto played really well and they set it up for us. We knew Mehidy had the ability and he has a good record against Afghanistan. The fast bowlers have been bowling really well. This win will give them a lot of confidence. We tried our best in this game, maybe not in the first game, but we gave our best in this one.
Taskin: The wicket was really good for batting today and the margin for error was very less for the bowlers. If I bowl well on this kind of a surface, it will improve my confidence going forward. The length is the key on any surface, my strength is bowling length balls with some seam movement. I had to mix it up with my lengths today. All our bowlers were good today, especially Shoriful. Miraz scored a hundred, he is not an opener but he batted really well.
Shahidi | AFG captain:I thought the target was chaseable. The outfield was quick and the target was chaseable, but we lost wickets. Their bowlers were good in the beginning, and our run rate was really low, that's why we couldn't win. We need to improve in all the departments. Today our bowling was not good enough, neither was our fielding. Lahore is near our country, so the fans were waiting for this game. Hopefully they will come and support us again in the next game.
22:14 Local Time, 17:14 GMT, 22:44 IST: A fantastic win for Bangladesh and they have qualified for the Super Fours because of this emphatic win. They might have lost against Sri Lanka, but they were right on the money, right from the start today. The Bangladesh openers got them off to a brisk start earlier in the day and the centuries by Miraz and Shanto propelled them to a massive total and we can't forget the cameos by Shakib and Mushfiq that helped Bangladesh in doing so. In reply, Afghanistan lost an early wicket in the form of Gurbaz, and the Afghan top-order batters - especially Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah went into a shell right after that wicket. Ibrahim Zadran did play an entertaining innings, but few of those shots he played were after he had notched up his fifty. Shahidi too scored a fifty, but Afghanistan were never in the game, to be honest. Rashid Khan smashed a few boundaries towards the end, but they were never going to be enough. Stay around for the presentations..
Taskin Ahmed to Rashid Khan, out Caught by Shakib!! An 89-run win for Bangladesh! Short ball by Taskin Ahmed, a slower delivery and Rashid Khan looks to go big. Tries to slap it off his back foot, but gets a top edge towards mid-off. Taken by the Bangladesh captain and they bounce back with a lovely victory in Asia Cup.
