England won by 6 wkts
PLAYER OF THE MATCH : Jos Buttler
Batter
Bowler
Lest you forget: Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes and Jason Roy aren't even part of this set up. And given how things have gone, Joe Root might not even be part of it when he becomes available. With this reduced side, they've managed to get closer to becoming number one. You'd reserve your praise, after all the Aussies are creaking, returning to cricket after six months while England have been on the road on their own winning juggernaut. Never mind, you'll never be pleased. So this was me, Vineet Anantharaman, signing off on behalf of Pradeep Krishnamurthy, Rishi Roy and our scorer, Praveen. Until the third match for pride, ta ta!!
Jos Buttler | MoM: At the top of the order is clearly the best place to bat in T20s. The wicket got easier as well as the match went on. You look at the way Jofra bowled his first over, it was going to be tough against pace. We got through the first two-three overs and got a partnership that set us up for the rest of the chase. Credit to Moeen, he came out and took on the spin and when he got those two boundaries, he took the pressure off. Very keen to stay till the end after what happened to Australia in the last game. It wasn't going to be easy for the new man coming in and that's why I wanted to keep the responsibility of finishing off the game with me.
Eoin Morgan | Winning captain: Pretty comprehensive. Can't really fault many facets of the game today. We stood up in the first six overs and made inroads into their top order. That made life easier, bowling well and then finishing well as well. The wicket was a bit soft on the top to start with which is why we wanted to bowl first. Jofra set the tone in the first over. I thought if we played with a bit of smartness in the first six overs with the bat we could chase it down. Australia bowled and fielded well. We'll continue to look at options with the opening position; it would be a disservice to the other players. We'll see how my finger is over the next few days. We'll look to play our best XI over the next game as well.
Aaron Finch | Losing captain: It's always going to be tough. We were a few runs short with the bat, but we just didn't get early wickets with the new ball. The pitch did a little bit more than we expected. It seamed a bit and we expected it to be slow and then get slower. We felt we needed early wickets because these guys are too good and too skillfull. As long as Buttler is hitting good balls and taking them on you can't do much. We felt that spin was going to be the hardest to hit in the final overs, that's why I went that way but it's okay it didn't work today. It's important to keep drilling your best XI in T20s and getting more games as a group.
17:38 Local Time, 16:38 GMT, 22:08 IST: Australia's gamble to turn to Zampa for the 19th over with Cummins and Richardson having their overs left doesn't pay off, and probably might even look stupi. But to be fair, the only reason why England seemed to be wobbling out there towards the end was because of what Australia did the other night. Otherwise this was a damn clinical chase; professional. Buttler the opener, Buttler the anchor, Buttler the finisher. So Bairstow swivelled onto his own stumps early, Malan and Buttler seemed to be doing it easily, and then Moeen Ali made sure the tiniest of openings the Aussies sniffed with a couple of quick untimely wickets, was shut in their face with a six and a four off consecutive balls. But once again, it's England's bowlers who deserve the credit, breaking the back of the Aussie batting lineup with regular interjections. Clearly this was more than a 157-run pitch.
Zampa to Buttler, SIX, boom, smoke, and 2-0: England are one more win away from becoming the new T20I number one -- so there are ways to win a game, and then there are ways to demolish the opposition. And trust Buttler to blast out souls, with a charge down the track and a full-blooded strike to pump it into the second tier downtown
Zampa to Moeen Ali, 1 run, threads it through the covers, and Mo brings the English one shot away ..
Zampa to Moeen Ali, FOUR, this one officially kills it. Inside-out slapping slice, big stride, using the width dished up outside off and then nailing it over extra cover
Zampa to Moeen Ali, SIX, this was coming. This really was coming. Mo was getting itchy, and he bites the bait, dancing down to the flight, getting right close and then tonking it high and into long-off .. this should kill it
Zampa to Buttler, 1 run, backwards, carving through point

Agar to Buttler, 1 run, quiet bunt, getting forward and stroking through the line to long-off
Abhilash: This match has two of the most understated spinners going around at the moment - Adil Rashid and Ashton Agar. Both of them seem to have cracked the code of chipping in with crucial wickets every time the game seems to be getting away.
Agar to Moeen Ali, 1 run, hangs behind and late-chops it straight to short third man
Agar to Moeen Ali, no run, a dance, a york and then a jam out to short mid-wicket
Agar to Buttler, 1 run, straightens in on middle and leg, wristed away, round the corner
Agar to Moeen Ali, 1 run, wocks behind, mistiming his cut, point again
Agar to Buttler, 1 run, flat, outside off, slapped through point

Zampa to Morgan, out Caught by Maxwell!! Morgan does a Friday's Maxwell, and keeping up with poetic justices, he finds Maxwell. A slice, uppishly and short cover grabs it head-high. This just won't die. Morgan c Maxwell b Zampa 7(6) [4s-1]
Zampa to Morgan, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Zampa to Morgan, no run, misses the sweep, gets struck high on the front pad around off and Australia review the LBW, because why not! The over the wicket angle would've taken it across as well because it clearly didn't turn back in enough. But again, it's reviewed, because why not! The impact: umpire's call. The line: missing off
Zampa to Morgan, FOUR, smokes down the ground .. hard swinging bludgeon this, plonking in front, murderous in hammering it down through the line
