It may be only a consolation win, but it will still be pretty heartening for Australia. They've had quite a rough time on the road of late and this should bring some cheer in their camp. India were a bit off, right from the start, with the same intensity not being there. We'll see if they can charge themselves up for Nagpur in a couple of days time. That's all from us. I've been Sagar Chawla, and on behalf of Abhishek Chaudhary, Akshay Maanay, Ramakrishnan, Krishna and our scorer Naga, it's a goodbye

Harsha Bhogle: The change in batting order was a good experiment but it meant Dhoni was batting out of position. It is something to think about

Stat round-up
- First loss for India at Chinnaswamy in eight ODIs since Nov 2003. Last loss also came against Australia in Nov 2003.

- Nine successive wins for India in ODIs (joint most)

- Four successive wins for India in ODIs vs Aus (joint most)

- First win for Aus in 12 completed away ODIs in the last year.

Warner: It feels fantastic. Put a great smile on our face getting this win tonight. To come out here and play the ODI format in India, on wickets I'm quite used to, is fantastic. Really enjoying it. We set out from the front to be as conservative as we could and bat deep. Winning gains you some momentum. The way the guys played with the bat was fantastic. Good to see guys execute their skills they've been honing in the nets.

David Warner is Man of the Match

Smith, winning captain: Nice to be on this side. Nice to get a win in. Warner and Finch were spectacular. Really paced the innings nicely. Set us up to get 330. We lost a few wickets again. Handscomb was very good at the end. Nice little cameo to get us to 330. 300 wouldn't have been enough. Nice to defend and get a win. We were probably a bit too wide with the new ball. Bowlers were a little bit off throughout but pulled things back. Nice to sit up there and watch Warner do his thing. His ODI form in the last two years has been unbelievable. He continues to grow and get better as a player which is what we're after.

Kohli, losing captain: Honestly at the 30-over mark, they were going strong. I thought if we restricted them under 350, it would be a great effort, and we did do that. We were optimistic with our chances. We got a good opening partnership but we needed one big partnership after that as well. From that point of view, it wasn't a great batting performance from us. That can happen. People have off days. Umesh and Shami bowled well. Spinners won't have good days always. Australia were really good today. With the bat, their intent was really good. They pulled things back nicely in the field. We didn't play so bad, but they were better on the day. The only respite for the fast bowlers was taking the pace off. It (pitch) looked worse than it played. It played very well, surprised all of us. All in all, a good wicket for cricket.

Harsha Bhogle: Thought Australia's end overs bowling was outstanding and India were short on fire power at the finish.

21:42 Local Time, 16:12 GMT, 21:42 IST: When the rains came, the match was headed towards a potentially thrilling finish. This looked like the perfect opportunity for Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav to rise to the occasion and lift all the scrutiny they've recently been under. While they did impress briefly upon resumption, the duo threw it away and couldn't get the job done. It would be remiss of me to take any credit away from how the Australian pacers pulled things back at the death. Richardson, in particular, was super impressive with the variations in pace and lengths. So Australia have their first ODI win overseas after quite a while. Finch and Warner set it up with the bat, and then their pacers clinched it from a tight spot. They did need a slice of brilliance in the field from their captain to get rid of a fluent Rohit, who would've taken the game away quickly had he stayed any longer. We'll be hearing from him soon enough in the presentations..
