India take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series in Mumbai which doled out a lively surface. While Australia collapsed 129/2 to 188/10, India recovered from 83/5 with an unbeaten 108-run partnership. The hosts will further be bolstered by captain Rohit Sharma's return for the next game. Can the Aussies level the series? Tune in on Sunday for the second game in Visakhapatnam. For now, it's goodbye from Abhinand Raghavendran, Abhinav Guha, Saurabh Shankar and Praveen.

Ravindra Jadeja | Player of the Match: I’m playing ODI cricket after 8 months so I was just looking to adapt to the format as soon as possible. Luckily with the ball, I got a few wickets. When I went to bat, I was looking to build a partnership with KL. I knew that the total was small but still we had to chase it down. We've been playing Test cricket. Line and length is different to Test cricket. You have to alter you lengths and pace. I was looking to bowl in good areas and I was also getting a bit of turn. I was looking to build a partnership today of about 70-80 runs, and that's what happened. It was not easy to play the big shots because the ball was swinging.

Hardik Pandya | India captain: We were under pressure both the times . We kept our composure and found ways to come out of those situations. Once we got the momentum towards us, we were quite on top of the game. I am really proud of the way we caught today. The number of chances we created ... they had to be taken. Outstanding catches by Jaddu and Shubman as well. Talking about Jaddu, he did what he's capable of. Coming after a break in ODI cricket, the way he finished as well, we needed a partnership with KL and he did the job for us. That was fantastic. It was hot, I was enjoying my bowling. I was enjoying my batting as well. The way KL and Jaddu finished it off and the way they batted, it gave us the confidence. It was very relaxing watching them bat. Overall, a very good victory and very proud of them.

Steve Smith | Australia captain: We weren't expecting this at the Wankhede, usually pretty good scores. India bowled really well. We probably left a few out there. If we had got over 250, it would have been interesting the way the ball was swinging and seaming. KL and Jaddu's partnership was really good when they were under pressure. We started pretty well. Mitch played really nicely and took the game on early and got a few away and kept going. We lost too many wickets through the middle. We weren't able to get a partnership and get to a reasonable total. We were always one partnership away from them beating us. Jadeja and Rahul showed how to do it. Maybe 260-270 (was a par score). I don't think it was a great wicket, it was offering a fair bit for the seamers at times. The ball swung pretty much for 30-odd overs for both teams. We just needed to score more runs. Credit to India.

KL Rahul: Saw three wickets fall down early, Starc was swinging the ball well and when he brings the ball back in, he is a dangerous bowler. Just tried to play normal cricketing shots. Got a few boundaries away and that settled my nerves. I batted with Shubman, Hardik, and Jadeja. The talk was that there’s help on the wicket but we did not want to get into our shell and play out a certain bowler. We wanted to be positive and put the loose balls away. If we are good with out footwork, we could do well and it was fun batting with Jadeja. The minute the left-hander walked in, I got a few loose ball. That happens to the best of bowlers. The left-hander walking in and that worked for us. Jaddu batted beautifully and he runs hard between the wickets. He is in great form and he knows what to do in those situations. When we started off, I didn’t think the pitch will help the bowlers that much. Once Shami came back for his second spell, he did wonders. Any team that wants to win needs to pick wickets in the middle overs. When there’s bounce, I like keeping wickets. It is a bit of a challenge when it is slow and low, it is challenging physically. The ball was moving around and I enjoy playing here at the Wankhede.

At 39/4, Hardik Pandya joined KL Rahul and the duo looked to steady the ship. The Aussies kept applying the pressure and Stoinis broke the 44-run stand by bouncing out Hardik. In walked Ravindra Jadeja who had earlier initiated the Aussie collapse by removing a well-set Mitch Marsh (the only batter who looked at ease). The southpaw and KL batted calmly. There were a few plays and misses, there were a few streaky shots but the pair batted with a lot of discipline and stitched a brilliant match-winning partnership. Rahul notched up his 13th ODI fifty in the process and Jadeja too remained unbeaten on 45 in addition to his 2-fer and a screamer in the field. Stick around for the presentations...

20:39 Local Time, 15:09 GMT, 20:39 IST: Jadeja hugs Rahul. India hunted down the total with 10.1 overs to spare but they were made to toil hard. The new ball swung and seamed around and Australia reduced the hosts to 16/3 in five overs. Stoinis provided the first breakthrough and Starc was at his fiery best removing Kohli and SKY off successive deliveries. The left-arm speedster should have dismissed Gill on 2 as well but Josh Inglis put down a catch. The Indian opener survived a few close shaves but he failed to capitalise as he eventually fell to Starc and thereby becoming the latter's third victim. Australia had their tails up but India came back strongly for the second time in the day.
