A little bit of redemption for India as they register a record chase here at Visakhapatnam. They set off on the right foot in this 5-match T20I series. Australia won't be too bothered by this loss, like Wade said, they had quite a few positives to take away from this. They'll undoubtedly polish those rough edges and turn up strong in the next one. Not to mention, they might also get some of their World Cup stars back too so India will have a stiff challenge ahead but it'll be a challenge that this young team will welcome and relish. That's it from us here at Cricbuzz but we'll see you right back here for the 2nd T20I in a few days' time. This is Anurag Hegde signing off on behalf of Pradeep Krishnamurthy, Sagar Chawla and Vinod Kumar. Take care and goodbye.

Suryakumar Yadav | India captain and Player of the Match: Very happy with the way the boys played. Was very happy with their energy, we were put under pressure but the way everyone showed up was amazing. It’s a proud moment, very proud moment, everytime you play, you think about representing India but coming out here and captaining India is a big moment. Thought there will be a little bit of dew but there wasn’t. It isn’t a big ground and I knew batting will get easy. Thought they might get 230-235 but the bowlers did really well. Just enjoy and express yourself. We’ve been in such situations many times in franchise cricket, just told Ishan to enjoy himself. We knew what was going to happen. I left the luggage of captaincy in the dressing room. I try to enjoy my batting. The atmosphere was amazing, thanks to the crowd. Was great to see how the boys kept their nerves. Was great to see Rinku, the situation was tailor-made for him. He was calm and collected, calmed me down a little bit. Incredible achievement from the bowlers to restrict them to this total after the 16th over.

Matthew Wade | Australia captain: It was a good match in the end. Inglis got us a score we thought we could defend but the Indians came hard at us. These young Indians play a lot of IPL and T20 cricket. Thought we bowled pretty well, just couldn’t nail our yorkers, easier said than done especially on a small ground like this. Lot of positives to take out from this game. Inglis was class. We thought we did fairly well, Ellis bowled a big over for us to take it into the final over, it went down to the last ball so it shows how close it was.

Ishan Kishan: I think bowlers did a great job, we were put under pressure, but credit to Mukesh for the way he bowled, the wicket wasn't easy to bowl on, but to go at less then 9 rpo was outstanding, Rinku as well, playing at the early stage of his career and playing that kind of innings, it was special. We didn't want to put too much pressure on the later batters, credit to Surya bhai, he planned his innings superbly, he can always play the big shots whenever needed. The plan was to get quick runs (on the partnership), so even if I got out, we needed the runs on the board. The ball I got out, he wanted me to look for a single, but the gap between runs required and balls left was big and I had to go for my shots. It's a young side, most of them have not played against big teams like this, we'll make mistakes, we'll talk about it during the team meetings and come back better with the ball in the next match.

22:46 Local Time, 17:16 GMT, 22:46 IST: Settling the scores after the World Cup? Probably not quite because of the huge gulf in the magnitude of the two games but it’s a win that’ll feel good nonetheless for this young Indian side. Might not serve as but a bandaid to the wounds of the World Cup but the Indian fans can rejoice at getting one back at the Aussies just three days after the heartbreak at Ahmedabad. It got a little nerve-racking there towards the end but Rinku Singh was as cool as ever as he took India over the line. It was SKY who orchestrated a lovely win for India on captaincy debut. Chasing 209 wasn’t going to be easy on any surface but SKY and Ishan Kishan took the attack to Australia and they were relentless. There was no lack of intent whatsoever here at Visakhapatnam, in fact there was plenty of it. Also worth casting your mind back to the superb final over that Mukesh Kumar bowled in the first innings especially considering how close it got in the end.

Abbott to Rinku Singh, no ball, Rinku Singh does the job! Don't need to bother running when you can hit them that far, in fact it doesn't matter because Abbott oversteps! So the six won't be added to the scorebooks but an India win will certainly be. Was a half-volley on middle that Rinku Singh launched into the stands at long-on

Abbott to Rinku Singh, out Arshdeep Singh Run Out!! 1 run completed. And another run-out! Three wickets in three balls! Was a slower length delivery on off-stump, Rinku Singh hung back and heaved it away towards deep mid-wicket, he wanted two but Arshdeep Singh was found just short of his ground at the bowler's end. The throw was good and flat and the bowler did the rest. Arshdeep Singh run out (Smith/Abbott) 0(0)

Abbott to Rinku Singh, THATS OUT!! Run Out!!

Arshdeep Singh, left handed bat, comes to the crease

Now 2 runs needed of 2 balls

Abbott to Ravi Bishnoi, out Ravi Bishnoi Run Out!! Bishnoi is run-out but importantly for India, Rinku gets himself back on strike. Was banged in short at pace, Ravi Bishnoi looked to hook and missed. Rinku was running through for the bye just as the bowler delivered, Wade missed at the striker's end but the bowler gathered and ran Bishnoi out at the other. Would've spelled a lot of trouble for India had Wade hit the stumps at the striker's end. Ravi Bishnoi run out (Wade/Abbott) 0(1)

Abbott to Ravi Bishnoi, THATS OUT!! Run Out!!

Ravi Bishnoi, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Just gets a little complicated for India now, still only 2 needed though and even an edge will do
