New Zealand go up 2-0 in this five game series, holding on by the skin of their teeth. Over 430 runs scored here in Dunedin with bowlers being put to the sword unlike in the first T20I where they had some assistance. That's all we have from here today. There's a gap of around six days before the third T20I as the teams go to Wellington. We'll see you then. Goodbye!
Kane Williamson | Winning captain: Flashback scenes there. Incredible partnership from Sams and Stoinis. It was a pretty strong performance from us. On these grounds , you are always in the game. We know the power they have in their line up. It was about executing our plans. Fantastic atmosphere, crowd was amazing and it was great to get the result. Number of contributions throughout. Outstanding knock from Martin. It's not an easy thing to defend here, lot of things to take and build on for the next game. It's a bunch that's really enthusiastic about improving. We haven't played here for a long time, great to be out there.
Aaron Finch | Losing captain: We got back into a great position. That partnership between Sams and Stoinis was extraordinary. How dynamic he (Stoinis) was from the start of the innings, along with Sams. Trent bowled a beautiful 18th over which halted our momentum. All in all, a good game of cricket. Obviously would've been nice to be on the winning side. I thought we didn't bowl too badly but Guptill played a brilliant innings along with Kane Williamson. Great batting display. Wonderful place to play cricket here.
Martin Guptill | Player of the Match : Little bit cooked at the moment, but it's nice to score runs, importantly to get the win. They played well till the end. Things haven't gone my way but nice to spend time and get the win. You never know in T20 cricket. Teams are in even with a 200 chase. Hopefully everyone who came enjoyed the game.
17:25 Local Time, 04:25 GMT, 09:55 IST: Phew what a game it turned into! Three wickets from Santner had left Australia buried at 113/6 after the 13th over. But Marcus Stoinis and Daniel Sams got together and cooked up a storm in Dunedin to leave New Zealand and this packed crowd gasping. Their partnership was worth 92 off just 37 balls, breathing life into the game out of nowhere. But just when it seemed like they would pull off the unlikely, their timing deserted them. Boult was brilliant in the 18th over, Southee a little less so in the 19th, and then the final over from Neesham, with 15 to defend, was ordinary at best but Sams and Stoinis ran out of gas by then.

Neesham to J Richardson, FOUR, not as much pressure on the final ball with the game sealed, Neesham lands it in the blockhole and Richardson squeezes it to the third man boundary. Australia fall just four short
Kane Richardson, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Neesham to Stoinis, out Caught by Southee!! Gone very high off the leading edge. And it's taken by Southee at long-on. The hunt is over for Stoinis and Australia. He got them so close, got them within touching distance. But has failed at the final hurdle. This hasn't been a great over from Neesham. This is in the slot, Stoinis swings across the line but all he gets is a thick leading edge. Stoinis c Southee b Neesham 78(37) [4s-7 6s-5]
Neesham to Stoinis, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Neesham to Stoinis, SIX, keeps the game alive! Another full toss from Neesham and this time Stoinis cashes in and launches it over long-on
Neesham to Stoinis, no run, can't get under the low full toss and hits it to long-on. Doesn't take the single. It has to be him if Australia are to get home
Neesham to Stoinis, no run, down leg from Neesham, but it's not given a wide. Umpire reckons that Stoinis has moved across
Jhye Richardson, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Neesham to Daniel Sams, out Caught by Glenn Phillips!! Full toss, it's a full toss and Sams has put this down the fielder's throat at deep midwicket. His timing's been on fire today but it's eluded him right at the end and that too off a full toss. Phillips keeps his cool as he backpedals in front of the ropes. Daniel Sams c Glenn Phillips b Neesham 41(15) [4s-2 6s-4]
Neesham to Daniel Sams, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
James Neesham, right-arm medium, comes into the attack
Neesham has the ball for New Zealand. Southee having a chat with him about the field. He hasn't bowled a single delivery today and now has to step up at the most critical moment.

Southee to Daniel Sams, 1 run, Southee finishes the over well by spearing this into the blockhole outside off. Squeezed for a single into the off-side. Down to the final over with 15 needed
Southee to Stoinis, 1 run, oh he's missed out on a full toss. No timing on it as he throws his hands outside off
Southee to Stoinis, SIX, Stoinis smokes the pull into the top tier! Wow! Short of length from Southee as he digs the slower one into the pitch. But Stoinis is waiting for it in the crease. Goes 84 meters
