The Pindi welcomed back an Aussie team after a long long time. And like the perfect host dished out a belter for the batters. Both teams were throwing jabs at a punching bag rather than at each other as the wicket took every help out of it for the bowlers. So it is a deadlock after the first Test. But both teams would be hungry for more. You continue satiating your cricketing fangs as we roll out more cricketing information for you. Buh bye for now...
Babar Azam | Pakistan captain: The way he grabbed his opportunity and the maturity he showed was commendable [on Imam]. So many positives. Even I would want to congratulate my bowlers as this was a tough wicket. The way Nauman bowled was a massive positive for us. A few of our main bowlers were not available for this game as well but they should be available for the next game.
Pat Cummins | Australia captain: Some runs for the batters. Should be going relatively fresh for the next Test. The whole city got around us and welcomed us. Has been an amazing week here at Rawalpindi.
Imam-ul-Haq | Player of the Match: I said earlier as well I have been working on my process for the last one and a half years. Very pleasing to be scoring a ton against Australia as they have a good bowling attack. I was working on my basics. Was waiting for the bad balls.
Abdullah Shafique: It is a big thing for me to score a Test ton against Australia. I played a bad shot in the first innings and got out. But I talked to Yousuf bhai [Mohd. Yousuf] and made some improvements. The wicket was good for batting. This game was a confidence booster for us.
16:34 Local Time, 11:34 GMT, 17:04 IST: The first Test has ended in a draw on a road of a wicket. The batters had it easy. Imam made the most of it and scored twin tons. Shafique joined hands with him in the second essay and got a ton as well. This after Australia were polished off quickly on day 5. Pakistan eked out a small lead but the match was always heading one way! Towards a draw! The Aussie batters also gave a good account of themselves but none of them got to a ton.
