There's no dearth of theatrics when these two sides meet. Australia's 100 percent winning record at this venue in T20Is has come to an end. Pooran has begun his captaincy stint on a bright note then as West Indies go 1-0 in this five-match series. Australia would look to bounce back in the next game but this loss would hit them hard. They had no business losing this. Anyway, they'd reflect back and look to correct their mistakes. That's it from us here. The second T20I starts tomorrow, same place, same time. Don't forget to join us back. Goodbye for now!
Nicholas Pooran | Winning captain: What a game. First game as captain, wasn't expecting it. We didn't get as much as we wanted. We asked the guys for energery and that's what we got. After the first two overs, we wanted to assess and it's tough to go with proper momentum. Russ coming and finishing off, what better than that today. Can't give them (bowlers) enough credit. They (Australia) came out firing, but we asked the bowlers to attack and keep asking questions.
Aaron Finch | Losing captain - The bowlers did a fantastic job, especially in the powerplay. The line and lengths they bowled were exceptional, they made most of the conditions out there. After the position Marsh and Wade got us into, I thought we panicked a bit. We have been working on batting aggressively in the middle overs, but today we probably had to adapt better. Thought the pitch actually got better in the second innings, the ball came through nicely and that made this (loss) very disappointing because we need only around 4 runs per over for most parts. Just need to dust this game off and be ready for the next match tomorrow.
Obed McCoy | Player of the Match: Feels great. I have been working hard, it's about execution and sticking to the team plan. Normally the surface here has bounce and carry. I was planning to take pace off as much as I can so that the ball holds. I noticed the spinners getting some turn, so I understood my slower ball would grip enough. We were confident that we have the bowling to back it. We have the experience of Gayle, Bravo, Russell, Pooran. Evolving comes with experience as well, doing the right things in practice and going out and executing as well.
22:44 Local Time, 02:44 GMT, 08:14 IST: Mad, mad scenes out there. West Indies boys are running helter-skelter in sheer jubilation. Phew! Insane last 30 minutes. So, how did it all come down to this? Let me explain this: Wade's assault at the top saw Australia wiping away nearly 50 percent of the target inside the PowerPlay which left the hosts in a state of dizzy. But they fought back well by picking two quick wickets. Mitchell Marsh, who was sent at number 3 counter-punched and put his team in command. However, the tide turned in favour of West Indies when Moises Henriques was dismissed by Allen in 8th over. Irresponsible shots coupled by mindless cricket saw the visitors lose their way completely despite the required run-rate well under check. The batters came and just slogged their way out. From 89/3 to 127 all-out. Incredible collapse that.

Obed McCoy to Hazlewood, out Caught by Pooran!! Edged and gone. END GAME. It's all over. Fittingly, McCoy, who's had an impressive outing with the ball caps things off. Back of a length delivery just outside off, extra lift does the track. Hazlewood has a tame poke and feeds a thick outside edge. Pooran nestles it in his gloves and he's off... Obed McCoy to Hazlewood, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Obed McCoy to Zampa, 1 run, leg-stump line, Zampa inside-halves it to square leg
Josh Hazlewood, left handed bat, comes to the crease
Obed McCoy to Starc, out Caught by Fabian Allen!! Gotta be kidding! Starc has found deep mid-wicket. Pooran has been excellent with his field placements. The fielder was moved back at mid-wicket for this ball, Starc's mighty swing is futile. Allen swiftly dives across to his right and takes a beauty. Just can't take him out of the game. West Indies fans are over the moon in the stands, Allen is mobbed by his team-mates. Starc c Fabian Allen b Obed McCoy 3(8)
Obed McCoy to Starc, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Mid-wicket moved back? Some rejig in the field.
Obed McCoy to Starc, no run, pitched up outside off at 110kph, it grips and Starc doesn't go with full conviction
Obed McCoy to Starc, no run, McCoy delivers the customary slower ball, Starc plays it out
Obed McCoy to Starc, no run, fullish outside off, Starc attempts a slash albeit using his feet. Misses it..
The required rate isn't much of a concern for Australia but have just two wickets left.
