Change in team brings change in fortune for New Zealand. After being outplayed by India in the ODIs, they start their three-match series against Bangladesh with a comprehensive victory. However, there are only two more ODIs for their players to audition for the World Cup. Bangladesh need to regroup quickly and come out with a better batting performance if they have to compete against this New Zealand side. That is all for today. The second ODI is a day game on Saturday. Do tune in for that encounter. Until next time, good bye and take care!

Kane Williamson: Very good performance. The bowlers set the tone first up and we were able to pick the early wickets which we are always after. From thereon we were able to pick regular wickets. Bangladesh batted a long way down and made life difficult at times even when you thought you are in a position of strength. Then Martin was brilliant, fanstastic hundred and everyone did their part. Something we always focus on is the attitude on the field and intensity we bring. We were good in the field, hope we back that up in the next game. It is just going back to basics of what you are trying to achieve as a group and today was a good example of that. It has been a while so will be great to have some cricket there (in Christchurch).

Mashrafe Mortaza: It was tough. We were struggling with the bat, lost too many wickets at the start. They bowled well but we lost too many. There are no excuses. We need a week to adjust to the conditions, but I don't want to make any excuses. We will give our best in the next game. I think batting is a concern, but at the same time the bowling also needs some work. We did not bowl badly today but 232 is hard to defend.

Martin Guptill, Man of the Match: The most pleasing thing was how the guys restricted Bangladesh up front with the ball. Losing 4 wickets in the first 10 is really tough to come back from. It (his back) is going to be a bit stiff. It is nice to see the boys home. Sometimes yes, sometimes no (time off from cricket helps) it still didn't feel fluent. At most parts we talk to each other but he (Taylor) just lets me through as I bat longer.

21:30 Local Time, 14:00 IST: As clinical as it can get. New Zealand didn't have a daunting target and it was the right opportunity for their batsmen to spend some time in the middle. Guptill batted through the chase and was well supported by Nicholls (53) and Taylor (45). The opener was hardly troubled as he notched up his 15th ODI hundred. He added 103 for the opening wicket and then an unbeaten 96 with Taylor for the third. Bangladesh tried their best to put up a fight but they were at least 30-40 runs short of a par total.

Mortaza to Guptill, 1 run, New Zealand win by 8 wickets. Guptill does it nonchalantly. Handshakes all round. Short of length, Guptill uses the depth of the crease and punches to long-on

6

Mortaza to Guptill, SIX, woah! That is a Guptill special. The bottom handed whip with a still head not looking where the ball went. Full on middle, Guptill bends his down and thumps it with all his might into the deep mid-wicket stand
