Match abandoned without toss due to rain
15:58 Local Time, 10:58 GMT, 16:28 IST: This match has been abandoned without a ball being bowled and both teams will have to settle for a 2-0 scoreline. And that means, Pakistan will retain their top spot in the ICC T20 rankings. It didn't look promising right from the start, the rain eased out for a brief period but it came back with zeal and ensured no play was possible in the final T20I here at Lahore. That's not how we wanted to culminate this series but there are things that you can't control in this sport and rain is certainly one of them. So, that's it then for this T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh. You can switch tabs and follow the action between South Africa and England. Goodbye and take care.
15:00 Local Time, 10:00 GMT, 15:30 IST: Well, rain has been very stubborn. It fails to relent, in fact it has picked up intensity. And covers are intact. Chances of even a 5-over contest look bleak as of now. But we will stay optimistic.
Dean Winchester: If this match is washed out, will that effect points table? Will Pakistan be still on top? --- Yes, Pakistan will keep their number-1 rank.
Danny Morrison tweets - "Great weather for ducks!!! Hoping ‘Mother Nature’ starts smiling."
13:50 Local Time, 08:50 GMT, 14:20 IST: The playing area is covered by the covers as it is still raining in Lahore. The game has to start at 16:30 Local time for a five-over contest. Let's keep our fingers crossed. We will be back as soon as we get any update.
13:30 Local Time, 08:30 GMT, 14:00 IST: Well it's raining in Lahore at the moment. And we are in for a delayed start. Inevitably, toss is delayed due to rain.
13:00 Local Time, 08:00 GMT, 13:30 IST: Mohammad Hafeez - 39 years young. Shoaib Malik - 37 years young. Both these young men have been responsible for Pakistan taking an unassailable lead of 2-0 in this series. The ever mercurial Pakistan cricket never fails to surprise us. They have a plethora of talent when it comes to fast bowling department but there are not many exciting young batsmen coming through their system (Babar Azam is an exception). And that is the reason Pakistan cricket still count on the likes of Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez to get the job done. The two senior professionals were dropped in the T20 series against Sri Lanka and we all know the final outcome. They are back in the side again and Pakistan are back on track again. Their opposition today, Bangladesh though are not on the right track for sure. They were smashed by Pakistan in the last game and have to seriously up their game to avoid a whitewash in the series. Their coach, Russel Domingo, I am sure would have had some stern words to speak to them after the last performance. And let's hope, we get to see a much better performance from them today. Toss and team sheets coming your way shortly.
