Who would have thought that two South African spinners will be the leading wicket-takers in a home series? Maharaj and Harmer picked 29 off the 40 wickets to fall. That's incredible! Yes, the pitches suited them but they were bowling to a team who have grown up on such wickets, so to do that against them is even more remarkable. The pair also ensured that the team did not miss some of the first line bowlers as they are away for the IPL. Bangladesh had their moments but would be kicking themselves with the way they batted in the second innings of both Tests. There was no fight or resilience from them as they seemed to have given up even before a ball was bowled in the second innings. But they will cherish the ODI series win and take that as the positive from this tour. That's it from South Africa's home summer. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. There's plenty of IPL action happening and do catch all that on our site. Until next time, goodbye and stay safe..
Temba Bavuma, speaking to the broadcasters - A fantastic victory, obviously coming out of the ODI series, where we didn't find our grip, knew we had to make amends in the Tests. The voices in the dressing room were positive, nice to be on the winning side. The work done by the two spinners was outstanding, played a big role on surfaces which weren't exactly our strength. I think I have been given the responsibility and it's beginning to show up with the bat, need to take it up to the next level. Want to continue doing well personally and contribute to the team success. I'm more confident with my defence, that generally leads to doing well on the attacking front. It's important to be clear about your defensive play. I enjoy playing wherever the team want me. I'm happy batting at 5 and will continue to do so for the team needs. We didn't have all our assets going into the Tests (on the IPL players), but we found new players to do the job, it'll be nice to have competition for places when they're back for the next series.
Dean Elgar | South Africa captain: It has been a good last few months since I have taken over the captaincy. Obviously playing this series as people say a weakend squad, but I don't see it as that. I see giving guys an opportunity at this level and try to test their skills as an international cricketer. Extremely happy with how the guys pitched for the last two Tests, lot of tough style of plays had to be implemented and something we are not familiar with. Nonetheless, it was good to try those things out even when you're playing good cricket. The biggest thing for them was to trust the process, Keshav and Simon. Keshav will always be my number one spinner, but it was about them trusting my thought and process. Luckily the conditions we played in assisted that. But yeah what a combination that is! Great to see two guys go about their business at the highest level. We have a good core of spin bowlers in this squad and they have started their off-season. It is good to have Keshav and Simon as the reference point going forward. There's still a lot of hard work to go by as Test cricket is a tough arena and have to come up with certain gameplans. (What pleased him the most) The attitude of the younger guys coming through, runs from the lower order and I would also say guys putting their hands up and putting pressure on guys who are not here. If you have a lot of options then you give yourself the best chance to win a series at home and away.
Keshav Maharaj | Player of the Match and Series: Really happy. First to see the team cross the line, obviously we know the conditions were difficult and probably not suited for us, but full credit to the team. Dean did an excellent job leading us and the guys were clinical in the series. Dean and the coach had a chat with with me (after the first innings of the first Test), they said you're doing the right thing and your time will come, there will be a situation in the second innings and ever since I have not looked back. I was just trying to do the right things. I have just repeated my processes from the time I started playing domestic cricket, few minor tweaks here and there. I am happy enough to be getting the reward. I don't really look at my stats. Simon has done an excellent job. There was pressure on him, coming back to international cricket and he showed why he is a world class performer. Really happy and pleased for him, I know there will be a time he will get lot more rewards. I tried to show some positive intent and got the ball in the middle of the bat, obviously bit disappointed not to get over the line. Hopefully in the future I manage to get to the landmark.
Mominul Haque | Bangladesh captain: We didn't play well as a team in this series. South Africa played really well and congratulations to them. We are disappointed but have to move forward. We play well when everyone contributes and that's why that first innings in Durban was good. We didn't have any partnership with bat or ball, even with the ball we kept leaking from one end. Opposition don't make conditions as you want and as international cricketers we have to adapt. We can't give excuses for that. We have to play according to our process, we lost our process in this Test match. At least we managed to win the ODI series but we wanted to end the Test series on a high as well.
11:02 Local Time, 09:02 GMT, 14:32 IST: Just one hour. That's how long things lasted today as Maharaj and Harmer ran through the Bangladeshi line-up. They were also aided by some reckless batting and inexplicable shot-making. Rahim fell playing a drive, Mominul to the sweep and Yasir Ali to a slog sweep. Liton Das and Mehidy showed little resistance but it didn't take long for the latter to skip down the wicket and lose his wicket. After that it was just a formality and the South African spin twins didn't waste much time. For a second straight Test they picked up all 10 wickets in the fourth innings. Early on, the hosts set up a massive first innings total thanks to a combined batting effort and the bowlers gave them a big lead of 236. In the second essay, South Africa batted positively and set up a target of 413 and shot down Bangladesh for 80. Hang around for the presentations..
Harmer to Taijul Islam, out Lbw!! South Africa win by 332 runs and take the series 2-0. That was beautifully set up by Harmer. He bowled a couple of off-breaks and beat Taijul on the outside edge. Then slips in the slider and Taijul has no clue, he prods forward to defend and plays outside the line, ball beats the inside edge and strikes him on the back pad. It was stone dead but Taijul just wanted to delay the celebrations as Bangladesh had a couple of reviews. Taijul Islam lbw b Harmer 0(11)
Harmer to Taijul Islam, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!
Bangladesh review! Taijul is delaying the inevitable. South Africa are already celebrating as some of the players grab the stumps as souvenirs. This looks plumb. Legal delivery. UltraEdge does not show any spike. Ball-tracking coming up.. three reds and that's that. OUT
Harmer to Taijul Islam, no run, flighted around off, Taijul is doing well not to go chasing the ball and is beaten on the outside edge
Harmer to Taijul Islam, no run, tossed up around off, Taijul keeps his bat close to the body and allows it to go past the outside edge
Ebadot Hossain, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Maharaj to Khaled Ahmed, out Lbw!! Maharaj is having fun now. 7-fers in back to back Tests. This is just too good a delivery for a number 10. The arm-ball and Khaled ends up playing the wrong line, gets beaten on the inside edge and is struck low on the pad, umpire Allahudien Paleker was convinced this time but Khaled still challenged the call, ball-tracking shows it to be hitting leg-stump. South Africa are one wicket away. Khaled Ahmed lbw b Maharaj 0(3)
Maharaj to Khaled Ahmed, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!
Bangladesh review! Khaled is given out LBW and he tries his luck with a review. Unless there's bat he is a goner. Fair delivery. UltraEdge shows a flat line. Ball-tracking shows it to be smashing into leg-stump. OUT!
Maharaj to Khaled Ahmed, no run, slower and around off, Khaled hangs back and dabs it to second slip
Maharaj to Khaled Ahmed, no run, tossed up outside off, Khaled reaches forward and has a feel for the ball, gets beaten on the outside edge
Khaled Ahmed, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Maharaj to Mehidy Hasan, out Caught by Verreynne!! 6-fer for Maharaj. This is the best of the lot from him. It was not a batter taking him on and losing his wicket but a ripper that dismisses Mehidy. Tossed up, drifts in and turns away, Mehidy lunges forward to defend but is done in by the sharp turn, the bat hits the bottom at the same time the ball kisses the shoulder of the bat, Verreynne takes a good catch behind the stumps. The third umpire didn't take long to overturn the onfield decision. Mehidy Hasan c Verreynne b Maharaj 20(25) [4s-2 6s-1]
Maharaj to Mehidy Hasan, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
