That is all we have from this encounter. The second one is on Sunday; same venue, same time. While Bangladesh would aim to extend their dominance, Zimbabwe will be hoping for a comeback through the inclusion of one of their star players, Sikandar Raza. Let's hope that ain't one-sided. Do remember to join us for that. Until next time, it's a goodbye from the team: Raju Peethala, Akshay Maanay, Nikhil Jadhav and our scoring supremo, Siva. Cheers!
Tamim Iqbal | Bangladesh skipper: I thought Zimbabwe bowled exceptionally well in the first 15 overs, but the way Liton and Mahmudullah batted and then Afif. Today was the perfect example of youngsters stepping up and putting up a good display. I was not thinking about the surface too much. Shakib bowled to the plan and we build the pressure and we got the wickets. Afif's innings was very special and Mehidy's innings was crucial too. Small contributions can make big impact.
Liton Kumar Das | Player of the Match: It's really good to bat on this surface and happy with my effort today. Initially the pitch was favouring the bowlers and I managed really well in the first 15-20 overs and then it got easy. When there are senior batters around you always get the support. A little bit of recovery tomorrow and I'll be fine.
Brendan Taylor | Zimbabwe skipper: Not the kind of day I wanted to have on my 200th ODI, but we were outplayed and well done to Bangladesh. The body is fine and I still love the game, so I'll keep going. When there are tough situations, they grab that moment and make the most of it. The young guys are trying hard in our team, but we couldn't capitalize on the great start that we got with the ball. Guys need to be stronger during tough times, it's a quick turnaround before the next one and we will certainly be better and switched on for that.
16:00 local: Zimbabwe were on the back foot - 49/3 - when Chakabva walked out and he smashed his first couple of deliveries for boundaries. Both off the back foot. A cracking whip followed by an eye-pleasing cut. He took the fight head-on and continued his positive approach throughout and just needed one or two sane partners at the other end. To start with, he had one of their best batsmen in the format - Brendan Taylor who, for the umpteenth time in his career, has thrown it away attempting a needless shot against Bangladesh's best bowler, Shakib. That was it. The doors...um...rather the floodgates opened. There was no coming back as Zimbabwe's lower-middle-and-tail lost the plot and imploded in spectacular fashion (lost their last five for 16 runs) making Chakabva's refreshingly-belligerent knock look like a mere filler on the scorecard. Only if their top-order hung around. Only if Taylor thought of a non-boundary option. Only if!
Shakib to Ngarava, out Caught by (sub)Nurul Hasan!! A wild slash outside off and he's nicked it to the keeper. Five-for Shakib and Bangladesh record an emphatic 155-run win to go 1-0 up in the series. As mentioned earlier, Maruma injured his hamstring and won't be coming out to bat. A well-deserved 10 Super League points for Bangladesh. Handshakes all around as both teams meet on the sidelines. Ngarava c (sub)Nurul Hasan b Shakib 0(5)
Shakib to Ngarava, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Shakib to Ngarava, no run, this one skids through and beats Ngarava on the outside edge. There was an appeal for stumping but the back foot's got down in time. It was lifted up for a fleeting moment but all ends well...
Shakib to Chatara, 1 run, thick outside edge as Chatara pokes outside off and it falls wide of the lone slip fielder to his right
Shakib to Chatara, no run, floated up just outside off, driven back to the bowler
Shakib to Chatara, no run, quicker on off-stump, Chatara strides forward and defends
