That's all we have from this game. Australia, who are already in the final, will take on the home team on Friday at Auckland. A New Zealand win will guarantee the Kiwis a spot in the final. To stay alive in the tournament, England would want their arch rivals (Australia) to win the next fixture. We'll be back for that encounter. Until then, it's goodbye from Abhinand Raghavendran on behalf of Hariprasad, Kumar Abhisekh Das and Venky!
Jos Buttler, England captain: 10 or 15 (runs) too many - that proved to be the difference. We were just off our skills. We didn't bowl as well as we could have. Guptill and Williamson put us under a lot of pressure. We pulled it back in the end - specially Jordan. Fantastic start, when Alex Hales is in that kind of form, not many in the world can stop him. He played well and that partnership with Malan; was impressed as well. We didn't get the cameos going. No, (when asked if he'll be supporting Australia in the next match) but that's obviously what we need now. We'll just wait and see what happens.
Kane Williamson, Man of the Match: Very important win in the context of the series. It was in some ways a must win to stay ahead of the third placed team, which is a very strong England side. We managed to play very good cricket. It was important that we assessed the wicket. The guys got off to a good start and that helped. You always want more runs and always train hard. There have been a number of occasions of late where I have wanted to contribute more. The two debutants were outstanding and there cameos helped us to get an above par score. Tough fielding conditions I must say. Superb death bowling from Tim and Trent as well.
22:23 Local Time, 09:23 GMT, 14:53 IST: Three losses in three matches for England in this tri-series. Chasing a stiff target, England lost Jason Roy early in the innings. However, Alex Hales took the attack to the England bowlers and was involved in a fifty partnership with Malan. The former was scalped by the impressive leggie - Ish Sodhi - and England lost their momentum there. Dawid Malan kept losing partners, but that hamper him as he went onto post yet another fifty - his third in as many T20Is. Just when he and Willey were threatening to take the game deep, Santner cut the partnership. Trent Boult executed the yorkers with impeccable accuracy to wrap up the match.
