Phew, watching the England batting crash and burn at the start was quite extraordinary. So a win for Australia on Australia Day. They're on the board in this series. Next is Perth where a new stadium and apparently 60000 fans await. Should be fun. Join us for that. I've been Sagar Chawla, you can find me @SagarChawla90. On behalf of Pradeep Krishnamurthy (@field_cricket), Vineet Anantharaman, and our scorer Sultan, it's a goodbye!

Smith, winning captain: Nice to get over the line in the end. Pretty ordinary batting display really, apart from Head. Rest of us need to have a hard look at ourselves. It all happened pretty quickly. 8/5, you take that any day of the week. It's an area we are trying to work on. Our starts haven't been quite good. Pat and Josh hit the right areas. Against anyone, you just want to bowl good balls and try and force them to play big shots off good balls. Today they did it beautifully. It's exciting, the first event at the new stadium (in Perth). Feels like it's been a long time coming. It looks incredible.

Pat Cummins, MoM: Tough few games to start the series, was nice to start off well here. Pretty good wicket. The wicket has been brilliant here the last couple of years. Feels like we've got some pace and bounce. Swung around a bit early. Great wicket. He's (Hazlewood) just about the best bowler in the world in ODIs. You see why. Lands it on a dime. Bit of movement. You know what you're going to get. It's everything I could have asked for. At the start of the summer, I wanted to be up for the Gabba Test. Didn't think about too much else after that. Feels like the ball is coming out well. Been a great summer. Gonna be a great tour over there. Test matches going on over there look to be very exciting. They play similar brand of cricket to us (South Africa).

Morgan, losing captain: Was the difference in the game today (going down to 8/5). We fought well to get Australia seven down with just 190 on the board was an outstanding effort. To get five down like that really emphasized how much there was in the wicket. Full credit to Australia, how well they bowled. Hardly gave anything to hit. In that particular moment, you have one of two ways. One is to hang in and try and get through. The other is throw the onus on the bowler. We tried both but it didn't work. Adil Rashid got us right back in the game. We needed something special to make that happen but it didn't come. We are looking forward to Perth. End of an era with the old stadium, really excited to get in front of 60000 people.

20:48 Local Time, 10:18 GMT, 15:48 IST: England tried about as hard as a team can try from 8/5, to make a match of it. Woakes's majestic fifty led the recovery to get some sort of a score on the board. He then got Warner reasonably early with the new ball too. Adil Rashid chipped away at the wickets through the middle. But Travis Head, filling in for an injured Finch at the top, was determined to get Australia on the board in this series. The left-hander scored freely, cutting away at the target and should have had a hundred to his name before being unfortunately denied there at the end. It was an excellent toss to win in the morning under overcast skies and on a wicket where the new ball decked around. Cummins and Hazlewood cashed in thoroughly as England capitulated to their worst ever ODI start. They had four top-order batsmen getting ducks. Credit to the visitors for taking it this far. Stay tuned for the presentations..

Mark Wood to Andrew Tye, 3 runs, that's it, Australia have a win on Australia Day to get on the board in this series. Yorker length ball, comfortably squeezed past Rashid at mid-off

Mark Wood to Paine, 1 run, short of length again, targetting the body, Paine swivels across and pulls to long leg. Leaves Tye with just one ball to face. Tye can handle himself though

Mark Wood to Paine, FOUR, four more. Just four needed now. Surely there can't be any more drama. Short of length at the body, Paine pulls hard and splits long leg and fine leg

Mark Wood to Pat Cummins, out Pat Cummins Run Out!! 1 run completed. What a shocking mix-up between these two batsmen. Cummins and Paine are nowhere close to being on the same page. They're in two different books rather. Absolute shocker. It was punched back past mid-on, should have been a comfortable two and Cummins comes down looking for it. But Paine didn't want it. He stationed himself at the striker's end. Cummins saw that, but rather than rushing to make it back, he just stalled there looking at the fielder. By the time he made an effort, it was too late. Is it still on? Pat Cummins run out (Tom Curran/Mark Wood) 3(9)

Mark Wood to Pat Cummins, THATS OUT!! Run Out!!
