England have thwarted the hopes of Australia at home. They have taken the series 2-0 with a game to spare. Australia came really close in both games but some sloppy work time and again haven't helped them. Have they managed to find a way out to overcome these? They still have one more game to test that. England have been like a well oiled machinery but would want to come good in the next few days. The build up though is fantastic. We will keep building up to the WC as well with some nice pieces. Surf the site for more. Till then, KAD wishes you bye bye in company of MS Ramakrishnan and Venky.
Dawid Malan, Player of the Match: The wicket got better as it went on. Over the moon. Always good to be contributing to a win. I think knowledge of the ground helps having played in the Big Bash. I had a slow start in Pakistan but got my rhythm. Huss has been birlliant. He has been my idol growing up. Proud moment for me to receive my cap for the 50th game from him.
Jos Buttler: Really satisfying win. We showed great character. Malan played really well to anchor us to 178. Extra special for him. Curran enjoys the tough overs. He was brave enough to hit the leg stump. David is tough to bowl at. We needed to find a way out to get him out.
Aaron Finch: Dropped a couple of chances after having them four down. Could have made it easier for us. David has been fantastic. He will get better the more he plays at the international level. We have luxury with the new ball as we have three world class bowlers to pick from.
22:50 Local Time, 11:50 GMT, 17:20 IST: England's prowess in white ball cricket is well documented since 2015 and they have defeated the World Champions just ahead of the WC. This will be a shot in their arm. Australia were fielding a strong team but England despite being in a soup in the first half of the first innings managed to stage a stellar comeback. Malan led the fight back and Ali joined him. Then Curran and others chipped in with some fine spells with the ball to defend 178. They had come from behind to win against Pakistan and now have humbled Australia. England have made their intentions clear. But Australia would know that they have come really close and in big games these little things will matter.
