India give further evidence of their domination at home .. but it's not come without an English rearguard. The visitors have given a good account of themselves to render the remainder of this series anything but straightforward. This may very well be the toughest challenge India have faced at home in the last four years. It sets up the Mohali Test beautifully. Do join us then. For now, I'm Sagar Chawla signing off on behalf of Pradeep, Sriram, Pratyush Sinha and our scorer Venky. Cheers!
Kohli: It's been a lucky ground for me. Every innings I've scored here. I get a good feel coming here, similar to Adelaide. The atmosphere in the stadium is such that you want to play exciting cricket. Support was priceless. Helps you push through tough situations. We wanted to make sure we bat deep in the first innings, get 450+ and that's exactly what we did. From there on the bowlers are on top. That's what we did in Rajkot, scoreboard pressure counts in Test cricket. It was tough in the second innings. Had to dig it out. The idea was to show intent and get as many runs as possible. I was striking the ball well. Biggest positive is the way the fast bowlers bowled. And Jayant Yadav. Picked one wicket in the first innings, three in the second. Brilliant with the bat, showed great character. It's priceless those contributions. The young man, to show the character he did speaks volumes. I'm very happy with the start he's had. For a young man to come in and have the vision to take wickets and to tell you about the fields and the lines to bowl the batsman out. You know this guy knows what he's doing. Even the revs on the ball and the speed he bowled with. I knew the batsmen were uncomfortable against him. It's lovely to have all 5 bowlers who can give you wickets at crucial stages. We're playing some really good cricket. Don't want to be complacent. We respect the team England is. They're going to play quality cricket in Mohali. Need to strike the right balance of not getting too desperate and not getting complacent either.
Virat Kohli is Man of the Match..
Cook: Not a great moment [the timing of his dismissal yesterday]. We knew going into the last day, 9 wickets [would have been great], obviously disappointing to get out right at the end. The first day was the easiest to bat. It became harder after that. Was a good toss to win, no doubt about it. Disappointed at losing those 5 wickets on Day 2. India is where you have to score first innings runs. You saw how hard it was for India in the second innings. Obviously Virat played very well. It's about trying to get parity in the first innings. After losing those 5 wickets, we showed a lot of character and fight. We set our stall in the fourth innings which means the margin of victory is greater but we worked hard. We go to Mohali. It's hard. We've played some good cricket at certain stages, managed to put India under pressure. Only takes a couple of games to get back in the series. Really exciting place to be as a side. We've lost this game but we hold our heads high. We appreciate all the support here.
England had rallied up yesterday to stave off India's charge. But Cook's wicket right at the stroke of stumps proved to be the chink which allowed the hosts to batter the gate down and conquer this Visakhapatnam Test. Ashwin and Jadeja were relentless this morning to get rid of Duckett and Ali. Jayant Yadav followed up with a pearler to Stokes and with Shami nailing Root right in front, England's fight unraveled. It wasn't easy. India had to wade through various stages of an English fightback, most particularly on Day 4 where Stuart Broad's heroic spell on a sore heel inspired England into believing. But that's when a massive first innings lead helps. Virat Kohli's magnificent 167 followed by a gem of an 81 might well have been the difference between the two sides. The Indian captain was phenomenal on a difficult pitch and looked leagues better than everyone else involved. He was ably assisted by a ton from Pujara. With the ball, Ashwin picked his maiden five-for against England and their relatively modest effort in the first innings is what the visitors will rue. With this, India go 1-0 up in the series although the English spirit has managed to endure.
12:32 Local Time, 07:02 GMT, 12:32 IST: Huge roars from the crowd as soon as Dharmasena's finger went up. Kohli's fist goes up in the air and Cook looks pensive in the balcony. It's been excellent stuff from India today. No over the top celebrations but plenty of gratification there as they line up for the handshakes.
Jayant Yadav to Anderson, out Lbw!! Another huge shout. Not out is the call. Kohli reviews. He wants to be done with it. A hint of leg-side on this delivery I think. Sliding on with the arm, Anderson lunges forward and ends up playing outside the line. Oh, it's hitting. Smashing leg-stump according to HawkEye. India win. Anderson lbw b Jayant Yadav 0(1)
Jayant Yadav to Anderson, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!
James Anderson, left handed bat, comes to the crease

Jayant Yadav to Broad, out Lbw!! That's hit Broad's foot on the full by the looks of it. Dharmasena hesitates a little before raising the finger. It looked plumb in real time. Actually, it's bounced just in front of the boot, dipped on Broad as he attempted another sweep and played all over it. After a long discussion, he decides to review. In vain. It's crashing into off. India one wicket away.. Broad lbw b Jayant Yadav 5(7) [4s-1]

Jayant Yadav to Broad, FOUR, now Broad sweeps, and sweeps well. He picks the line early. The ball is drifting down leg and Broad is immediately down on the knees, rolls his wrists and hits it behind square

Ashwin to Broad, 1 run, thick inside edge on the forward defence with the ball sliding on, rolls away into the on-side for an easy single. Bairstow isn't looking to farm the strike. Way too much time remaining for that
Ashwin to Bairstow, 1 run, turning in on the stumps, Bairstow works it through square leg
Ashwin to Bairstow, no run, floated up just outside off, prods across to defend
Ashwin to Bairstow, FOUR, four more. He plays that sweep well. Gets right across to a ball outside off, thereby negating the LBW, and then whips it away behind square
Ashwin to Bairstow, no run, a flat under-cutter on middle, slides on and Bairstow is right behind it
Ashwin to Bairstow, no run, lunges out to smother the off-break even as it's dipping on him
