PLAYER OF THE MATCH : Jasprit Bumrah

Two different sports, two absolute thrillers. Perhaps a bit too much for a day. The most thrill-seeking junkie would come out nauseous. Bottom line is, India are alive and the series will go to the decider in Bangalore. This is Sagar Chawla teetering out of the office. My colleagues - Ramakrishnan, Sriram, Pratyush Sinha and Srivathsa are already in bed. Good night!
Bumrah: I tried to assess the wicket. Tried to learn from whatever I saw in the first innings. On this wicket, I thought it's a big ground and it's on the slower side, so back of a length deliveries and slower balls worked well. We all know what Buttler is capable of, but I was trying to stick to my plan. Tried to bowl stump to stump. Back of a length deliveries on the stumps were difficult. There was significant dew. Didn't expect so much and because of that, the back of length deliveries skid along. The wicket was up and down so back of a length deliveries worked well. Captain's confidence always helps. He's given me the freedom of doing whatever I want to. So I can stick to my strengths. The confidence is always helpful. Happy that we came on the winning end.
Jasprit Bumrah is Man of the Match
Kohli: It's important to have belief. It was a case of us executing really well initially. Bumrah and Nehra were outstanding in the end. To defend 40 in five overs with dew present is outstanding. Chahal bowled well. Mishra was outstanding as well. Raina bowled four for us so we didn't have to bowl Pandya with the wet ball. Initially Nehra was brilliant with the new ball. Removed both openers. Strong character shown by the side, something I am proud of. Nehra is an experienced performer, he knows what to do. Bumrah was asking me what to do every ball. Just told him to back his skills. Even if it goes for a six, you still wake up tomorrow. It's not the end of the world. It was an outstanding innings from Rahul on a pitch where shot-making was difficult. He's one player who has all the shots in the book. He nominates areas that he wants to hit in and hits proper shots. It's like my second home, can't wait to go there (Bengaluru). All to play for in the last game. We'll try to be more expressive. Some things we need to tighten up but all in all a very good performance.
Morgan: We were in the driving seat right up until the last over. Needing 8 runs, you probably win the game 99 times out of 100. Didn't start the over well. A decision went against us. Losing the 'in' batsman cost us. Fair play to Bumrah to produce a match winning over. We bowled very well to back up our previous performance with the ball. These last two games, we've been right on the money with the ball on wickets which don't suit us. All credit to the bowlers. We never let the rate get away from us in the chase. Root and Stokes played well. We were right up with the rate until the end. Unbelievably disappointing to lose this game. Got to take it on the chin. It's extremely competitive. Two teams not giving each other an inch and not giving any leeway to maneuvre. All down to Bengaluru now.
22:30 Local Time, 17:00 GMT, 22:30 IST: What a match! What a turnaround from Bumrah and Nehra at the end. The duo were sensational in their use of off-cutters combined with some brilliant yorkers. The off-cutters more so. They bowled them into the pitch which was mightily responsive to such variation. England were cruising when Stokes and Root were going. But it was always going to be about one wicket on this sluggish pitch. All that into consideration, England will feel they should have got home here. Especially after plundering 16 off the penultimate over to leave just 8 to get off the final one. But it was Bumrah's day to emerge as the hero. India are alive in the series.

Bumrah to Moeen Ali, no run, Bumrah raises his arms, as much in delight as in relief. Kohli runs in pumping his fists. Dhoni does nothing. And the Nagpur crowd erupts once more. A wide full toss outside off, Ali failed to connect. India have stolen this at the death to level the series.
Six needed off the final ball. After that Federer-Nadal epic, we get this.
Bumrah to Jordan, byes, 1 run, the off-cutter turns past the inside-edge of Jordan's slog. No connection. They go through for the bye. Dhoni missed out on the direct hit there. Ali was well short
7 needed from 2.
Chris Jordan, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Bumrah to Buttler, out Bowled!! Jamtha has come unglued. Bumrah skids one right under Buttler's attempted pull to rattle the stumps. Excellent variation. Buttler just didn't know what was coming at him. Looked like he set himself up for the slower ball. But it was anything but. Not short enough to pull either. Buttler b Bumrah 15(10) [4s-1 6s-1]
Bumrah to Buttler, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!
Bumrah to Buttler, no run, swings and misses. Huge roar. The slower off-cutter doing the job for Bumrah again. Wasn't a great deal away from off-stump either. This place is going to explode at this rate
Clutch delivery. It's Buttler on strike.
Bumrah to Moeen Ali, 1 run, moves to the leg-side and toe-ends a slower ball through point. Ali's shuffle meant that he moved himself away from the ball. But he's got Buttler on strike
Moeen Ali, left handed bat, comes to the crease
Bumrah to Root, out Lbw!! Huge, huge decision from the umpire. Root is furious. Did he get some bat? Oh yes, big under-edge. Not a very smart shot in the first place, trying to pull a skiddy back of a length delivery. But he did get some bat. Importantly, Buttler is off strike. Root lbw b Bumrah 38(38) [4s-2]
Bumrah to Root, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!
8 needed off the final over. Bumrah to bowl it.
