That concludes proccedings from the first ever T20I game at the Hagley Oval. New Zealand will look to square the series at Wellington come Sunday (November 5), as England continue their dress rehearsal for the T20 World Cup next year. Do remember to join us for that one. Until next time, cheers and goodbye from Raju Peethala, Pradeep Krishnamurthy, Vineet Anantharaman and Vinod LC.
Eoin Morgan| England skipper: Very happy. The game is won and lost in the first innings and thought our bowlers bowled really well. Two debutants, Pat Brown and Sam Curran had a good game and really pleased for them. They took advantage of the two-paced wicket and we ended up chasing 20 less. Vince was outstanding with the bat. Had a great time so far and hopefully we can cash in the same way later on in the series. We feel that we actually need 16-17 guys to start in the playing eleven and then give them opportunities all along, trying to stick to their strengths and do what they do in international cricket. We are looking at seven guys and with couple of spots up for grabs, we are allowing guys to come in and grab opportunities. It's nice to start the series with a win.
Tim Southee| New Zealand skipper: Wicket didn't play as well as we would have liked but we were a little bit off in all three areas. We got to an okay score and we haven't been able to take the wickets, and eventually couldn't put pressure on the run rate. Vince came out and took the game away from us. We got a score on the board that we could defend, but we were little bit off with the ball and in the field which clearly didn't help.
James Vince, Man of the Match: Nice to make a contribution with the bat and more importantly nice to get off to a winning start. The bowlers were outstanding in the first half and we were confident of chasing this at the half-way stage. Decent wicket, maybe lacks a little bit of pace but the outfield is really good. Always want to get more but pleased with the start.
17:07 local: The chase was never meant to be this straightforward. Not after New Zealand leaked only 2 legal runs off the first 2 overs in the chase. England though just hung in and used the bad balls on offer to kickstart some momentum in the innings. Once they got off the early jitters, James Vince - batting at three - played the perfect role minus finishing flourish that England have been longing to see from him. The Hampshire skipper struck 7 fours and 2 sixes in his 38-ball 59, claiming his maiden IT20 fifty while at it, shutting all doors of a possible comeback for the hosts. Vince hit classic cricket shots and displayed zero nerves in his partnership with Eoin Morgan to ease the RR pressure which never leapt in excess of 9.
Southee to Morgan, SIX, mauls the short ball into the mid-wicket orbit and that seals it. Captain Morgan hits the winning runs to make it 1-0 for England
Southee to Morgan, FOUR, low full toss on off-stump and Morgan's drilled this to the left of Santner at mid-off who sends the deflection racing towards the long-on fence
Southee to Morgan, no run, 131ks good length delivery angling away outside off, Morgan looks for the cut/steer but to no avail
Tim Southee [3.0-0-20-0] is back into the attack
England are two hits away from sealing this

Ferguson to Morgan, 1 run, 147ks full and wide of off, driven square on the off-side to the right of deep point
Ferguson to Billings, 1 run, full and dipping around off at 144ks, Billings toe-ends the flick wide of mid-on for a quick single
Ferguson to Billings, FOUR, throws the kitchen sink at a pacy full pitcher outside off and gets lucky does Sam Billings. Thick inside edge and it skims past the leg peg en route the fine leg fence
Ferguson to Billings, no run, 146ks full on off-stump, driven straight back to the bowler
Ferguson to Morgan, 1 run, slower delivery at the body, Morgan doesn't have the room to swivel and therefore, drags the pull off the glove to the left of the keeper
Ferguson to Morgan, FOUR, pacy full delivery outside off, Morgan clears his front leg and lifts it over the infield, just getting it over the backtracking mid-off fielder and into the fence
Lockie Ferguson [3.0-0-17-0] is back into the attack
