So that's all from our coverage. It's a short break between the Test matches as the second Test starts from Friday in Multan. Do join us then. For now, it's goodbye!
England have done everything and beyond to force a win in this game, and what a win it is. It was their first Test in Pakistan in around 17 years, and it's been a memorable one, despite the best efforts of the pitch to ensure otherwise. "If Stokes manages to win this, he should be named the Mayor of Rawalpindi," said Bazid Khan on air with an hour to go for close of play. It was so easy to put the blame on the pitch, but Stokes stood there, adapted to what's in store and thought - right, this is what we have in store, so let's figure out a way to go through this. Asked his batters to go hard, gave them a clear picture of what he has in mind about the declaration and made a very selfless call, ensuring both sides still had a great chance to keep the interest levels high for Test cricket. And this drew a large crowd on Day 5 and they were glued till the final session. He said he wanted to make Test cricket exciting and today he gave us what he promised.
Stokes: Some of the things we can't plan for is what happened to the squad before the Test. Seems a long time ago when we were running around to find players for the Test. Will Jacks getting the message three minutes before toss, and Pope getting the gloves. We've played 8-9 matches with myself and Brendon in charge. One thing we try to do is focus on ourselves and not the opposition. We know we're a very exciting team. Was a great batting surface, so it was an opportunity for our batting group. Having the lads truck in like they did today was amazing. Really special group of players. We wanted to come here to Pakistan and carry on with our mantra of exciting cricket. I've got no interest in trying to play for a draw, the dressing room has no interest in playing for a draw. Felt on this kind of wicket, almost had to entice the batsmen to play an attacking shot. Today we were fortunate to get the ball reverse-swinging. James Anderson and Ollie Robinson were fantastic today. We won probably about 8 minutes before we would've come off. This is probably up there as one of England's greatest away wins.
Babar: We were not upto the mark. Had a golden chance in the second innings, but session by session we lost wickets. Our bowling group is young. Unfortunately Haris injured himself in the first innings. All credit to the bowlers who bowled well and tried without Haris. We try to stick to our plans. Difficult when opponent goes at 7 an over. We had an opportunity in the second innings. But we didn't get partnerships in the end. Lot of positives. Our batting performed very well. Bowling also very well.
Robinson, Player of the Match: The pitch was not favourable but we got it going. I'm just proud of every single man. We knew it would be hard but we just toiled away. Batters gave us the opportunity scoring as quickly as they did. Playing on Pakistan on these tough wickets - probably the best Test match I've had.
To say England approached this Test with a positive mindset would be an understatement. Right from the first over on the first morning, which yielded 14 runs, the visitors never took a backward step. They amassed 506 runs on the opening day itself to shatter all kinds of records led by the four centurions - Crawley, Duckett, Pope, and Brook. Then their bowlers stuck at the task despite having nothing to work with, eking out a lead of 78. What followed was batting in an even higher gear than the first innings, as England went at close to 8 an over before making a brave, brave declaration. Pakistan were left with a target of 343 that didn't look very threatening. But how impressive was the bowling today, led by the two seamers who finally found enough reverse-swing to make an impact. Anderson and Robinson ran in all day to take four-fers as they chipped away at Pakistan, before Leach came up with the killer blow.
16:40 Local Time, 11:40 GMT, 17:10 IST: Absolutely sensational from England. They've forced a result on the most benign of pitches out of sheer desire. They were ready to risk a loss with their declaration in an effort to have enough time for 10 wickets. And that final wicket has come with barely any time left on the clock. What drama in Rawalpindi, what heartbreak for this massive Pakistani crowd that's turned up, and what delight for England and Stokes who deserves massive credit.
Jack Leach to Naseem Shah, out Lbw!! Oh that's plumb. Leach has done it for England. But wait, there's more drama. Naseem has reviewed it. Did he get an inside edge? It doesn't look like he did on the front-on replay. What does UltraEdge say? No spike! It's the new ball that does the trick for Leach as it slides on past the edge to hit the pad. Ball-tracking is taking an age to come up. And there's no surprise when it shows the ball crashing into leg stump. England have pulled it off in the fading light in Rawalpindi, as Naseem looks distraught as he stares blankly into the big screen. Naseem Shah lbw b Jack Leach 6(46) [4s-1]
Jack Leach to Naseem Shah, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!
Jack Leach to Naseem Shah, no run, darted in on a length outside off, Naseem leaves as it skids through to the keeper
Jack Leach to Naseem Shah, no run, tossed up on off, driven back to Leach
Jack Leach [18.0-6-56-0] is back into the attack
Is that a change of gloves from Naseem? He has a smile on his face as he walks back slowly to the crease
