Whew, to sum up today's game: England do a New New Zealand which is to choke in a T20 game from a winning position. Only fair, they get the taste of some of their own medicine as their search for 'perfection' in the Hollywood format continues and the next stop is Kingsmead Durban on Friday. You know it's a special day and what better way to roll off the evening with a T20. Do remember to tune in for that, thanks for all the lovely comments and feedback. Until next one, it's a goodbye from Raju Peethala on behalf of Vineet Anantharaman, Rishi Roy and Shashikant Singh.
Quinton de Kock | Proteas skipper: Quite interesting towards the end and I'm happy. It was very tight, but we knew as a bowling unit we kept our basics right and it's always tough to bat in the last five overs. I was still calm as I knew what needs to be done and of course there are things that you can't control. Temba batted really well and he's worked really hard to get here. Great to see him doing well. We are gonna enjoy tonight and it's really important that we stay ruthless throughout the series and hopefully seal the next one.
Lungi Ngidi, Player of the Match: Wasn't a great day and as a cricketer you'd have bad days and the last ball I told myself: run in as hard as you can and hit the length and the wickets were falling and they were on the back foot. The Pink day wasn't great, but that's how you bounce back. Not panicking under pressure is the key and I was told my job is to get wickets and that's what I want to do.
Eoin Morgan | England captain: Outstanding game of cricket. Experiences like these are valuable with a World Cup around the corner. Both teams left everything on the field. Losing a game by one run, you can try and make it up at some point, somewhere along the line. We didn't take advantage of being in a commanding position. Ngidi really changed the game. Hopefully we will learn more and head to Durban on a positive note. He (Roy) is probably one of the top three batsmen in white-ball cricket we have ever produced. With the experience I have, I should have seen it through, and I'll continue to use the method that I use, and hopefully win England more games. We're learning a HUGE amount from each other and it's been a very enjoyable experience in the dressing room.

21:37 Local Time, 19:37 GMT, 01:07 IST: What.A.Game! The South African dressing room go bonkers as they soak in all the joy after grabbing victory from the jaws of defeat. Stokes cannot believe what he's seeing and that expression, pretty much, sums up the mood of their dug-out. To cut long story short, the chase had its twists and turns right from the start and the momentum kept switching sides throughout. And then, England needed 23 from 12 with Morgan in decent nick who had Moeen Ali for company at the other end. The England skipper went 1 1 4 4 6 and nearly sealed the game with an over to go. As fate would have it, Morgan slogged the final ball and was caught in the deep which made room for all the drama that happened in the last over. With 7 needed off the final over, Ngidi reopened the 'The Wanderers ODI wounds' and completely outfoxed the England batters with a variety set of slower balls.

Lungi Ngidi to Adil Rashid, out Adil Rashid Run Out!! 1 run completed. Choking, eh - what does that mean? South Africa hold their nerve to clinch this heart-stopper and go 1-0 ahead in the 3-match series. Full ball from Ngidi and Rashid could only slog it as far as mid-wicket, Steyn - calm as cucumber - tosses the ball (underarm) towards QDK who was on the amble to whip the bails and bam! Game over. Adil Rashid run out (Steyn/de Kock) 1(1)
Lungi Ngidi to Adil Rashid, THATS OUT!! Run Out!!
Adil Rashid, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Lots of field changes and QDK is in no rush...
Lungi Ngidi to Moeen Ali, out Bowled!! Got him. Ah, this is going to be a thriller. No pace from Lungi Ngidi and Moeen Ali was through his bat swing way too early, doesn't get anywhere close and loses his off-stump. It's all happening in East London... Moeen Ali b Lungi Ngidi 5(5)
Lungi Ngidi to Moeen Ali, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!
Lungi Ngidi to Moeen Ali, 2 runs, South Africa review for lbw against Moeen Ali: Fair delivery and the batsman seems to have got an inside edge on that. UltraEdge is quick to confirm that and the onfield verdict stays. Not out. Length ball angling in just outside off, Ali shuffled across and got a healthy inside edge on the flick wide of mid-wicket. South African fielders appealed for a long time before going upstairs and it all seemed to be an act of desperation from the Proteas...
Lungi Ngidi to Moeen Ali, no run, goes round the wicket and bowls another off-cutter outside off, the length is full and Moeen Ali's bat swing wasn't reaching that low down. He was expecting a length ball, but wasn't to be. A swing and a miss
Chris Jordan, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Yagyansh: "This is such poor captaincy from QdK. In a chase the penultimate over is the crucial one and not the last one. Clearly he had to plan so that Ngidi bowled the 19th over. Even with Morgan's wicket Ngidi is left with too few in the bank."
Lungi Ngidi to Tom Curran, out Caught by Miller!! Oh, the drama. Morgan scratches his head and this game ain't over yet. Tom Curran lines up for a length ball, but it's an off-cutter on a fullish length. Goes through with his slog a fraction too early and hit it against the wind, only to chip the shot off the toe-end to the waiting deep mid-wicket fielder. Tom Curran c Miller b Lungi Ngidi 2(2)

Lungi Ngidi to Tom Curran, 2 runs, slower full ball on the pads and its been whipped away into the gap to the right of deep square. There was two available and the duo made it look very easy
