An action-packed start to the series and if this is a sample of things to come, we should be in for a thrilling series. England will be raring to bounce back harder in the other two games. Do join us on Sunday for the next game. Until then, it's a goodbye from us.

Temba Bavuma: It changed really quickly. Player of the Match did his job, took two quick wickets and we really bounced back well after that. I thought it was a good wicket, we were thinking in excess of 300. Rassie and David summed it up differently, it did get slower and in the end, we felt we still were a few runs under-par. It was crucial to stay in the game. Their start was similar to ours, ball came on nicely in the start but they had one guy batting long, which we didn't. Magala, they hadn't seen enough of him, so it was a trump card for us. I was expecting at least one of the bowlers to do damage. All of them chipped in for us at different spots. We're trying to shift our mindset from the result and more about how we want to play our game. We need the win, we need the points, but it's also about how to go about our business.

Sisanda Magala | Player of the Match: Very happy! The game was going in just one direction, so to pull it back and win the game is really special. He (Bavuma) was just sussing situations and planning how to best use me. I was probably the fourth change, but that's how the game situation was today. Gameplan was simple, keep it straight and use some change-ups when possible. The bouncer was two-paced, some stood up, some didn't, so it was a good ball to have. Worked out for us.

Jos Buttler: Disappointing, we played excellent cricket for a majority of that game. To be in a position like we were after that opening stand, it's disappointing not to finish it off. Wicket didn't play as well as we thought it would, still was a great wicket. The way SA started, to keep them to 298, we were really happy. Have that conviction to our game to just take it on, it's been there for a long time and it doesn't mean to just hit fours and sixes. It's about showing intent and imposing ourselves. Credit to South Africa, they did well but we could have put them under a bit more pressure. Yes, it did (on the pitch getting tougher), especially once the ball got older and softer.

20:56 Local Time, 18:56 GMT, 00:26 IST: This is some win from South Africa. They have come back from the dead to win this. England will find it hard to believe that they lost this game after being 146-0. They collapsed from 196-3 to be all out for 271. With a batting lineup like that, to lose from there - make sense of that if you can. They were cruising, absolutely cruising, when Roy and Malan were at it during the opening stand. Even as a few wickets fell, Roy's century put them on course for a 1-0 win. But once he fell, South Africa had a sniff, and they just hung in there. Nortje and Rabada produced excellent spells late with the old ball, even as England continued with their aggressive approach which didn't quite work today. Some of the shots was a bit baffling, but that's the way England play, so they won't be too worried. A morale-boosting win for SA as they pick up priceless ODI super league points.

Shamsi to Olly Stone, out Caught&Bowled!! South Africa have pulled it off. What scenes. They are alive in the race for the 2023 CWC. Thick leading-edge as Olly Stone flicks and Shamsi fumbles to his right the first time but hangs on the 2nd time and he runs away before Bavuma comes to mob him. The celebrations begin. Nortje to Jofra Archer, out Caught by Klaasen!! Nortje gets Jofra Archer. And the crowd erupt. A back of a length delivery on middle, a pace, Jofra Archer closes the face of the bat too early on the flick, the thick leading-edge flies to backward point and it's a good catch too, for it flew to Klaasen's right who snaffled it. Archer puts his head back as soon as it was caught. Jofra Archer c Klaasen b Nortje 0(4)
