Harsha Bhogle: Not for us to say what Pakistan must do but for a generation like mine that has, even if grudgingly, acknowledged brilliance, this was insipid.

Had my fanboyism dangled out of the N-storeyed building of hype, and look what I get in return: a head hurting from the boredom of a near no-contest, when I was told that I would have vocal chords swollen like boiled spaghetti. I did shriek though, loudly, but only when both the teams misfielded, when India hijacked the game in the first innings, and when Pakistan barbecued yet another run-chase. So the wait begins again -- not for another IndoPak match, but for an IndoPak match that's competitive. Hoping that the coverage was one, at least. With jaws unlocked from the many yawns, here's Pratyush Sinha taking leave on behalf of his colleagues: Pradeep, Ramakrishnan, Kumar Abhisekh Das and K Nagaraju. Have a good time, ta-ta!

Where was the game won? It was rather lost, in the death overs, with Pakistan conceding 72 runs in the last four overs, grotesquely bowling a spinner in the last, which constituted one of the many baffling tactics from Sarfraz. India won that moment - Hardik contributed with his cameo - and then Bhuvneshwar kickstarted a train of stop-and-start partnerships, none of which sustained. A good opening partnership was tamed, Pandya upped his bowling game with figures of 2/43 and Pakistan were dished out a hammering. They opted to chase to evade Kohli but ironically, rammed their heads into an upcoming battery of Indian bowlers. And a vintage Yuvraj Singh.

-- India has now beaten Pakistan in 13 matches in ICC tournaments (including Super Over wins) - the most a team has beaten an opposition. SL has 12 wins over NZ in 19 matches in ICC events.

All of top four of India scoring 50 in an ODI:
vs ENG, Indore, 2006
vs ENG, Leeds, 2007
vs PAK , Edgbaston, today
Yuvraj, the common factor in the three.

-- Ninth Man of the Match award for Yuvraj Singh in ICC tournaments (WC, CT, WT20) - second most for India behind Sachin Tendulkar's ten.

-- 124-run margin is the biggest win for India in terms of runs in CT and joint biggest for Pakistan in CT. In all ODIs against Pak, it is India's second biggest win after 140-run win in Mirpur in 2008.

Sarfraz Ahmed: I think we were not up to the mark with the fielding. Everything was under control till the 40th over. We lost the plot in the last 8 overs. No regrets. We leaked over 100 runs in the last 8 overs and lost the momentum to India. We need to sit together and decide how to control the bowling rate in the death. This tournament has given good pitches. We need to sit together and decide how we can get to more than 300.

Virat Kohli(2/2): The intent from Shikhar was outstanding. Rohit took his time. He needed runs under his belt. From the next game he will be expressive and we all know what kind of a batsman he is. I felt like a club batter in front of Yuvi. He took all the pressure off me, when I was not hitting it well. Yuvraj is in the team because he is a game changer. Hardik as well finishing it off was really outstanding. The batting I would say was 10 out of 10. The bowling and fielding, I would cut one mark. Purely because of the fact that we were playing Pakistan. They play spin really well. Most of their line is made up of right-handers. In pressure situations to be able to hit over mid-off and mid-on is tough. That allowed us to pick wickets and be aggressive throughout the innings. Guys who don't play spin well, we will play with 2 spinners. It is about who you are playing against.

Virat Kohli(1/2): With the bat and the ball we were right up there, 9 out of 10. In the field we were 6 out of 10. If we tune that up to 8 or 9, we will be a very strong side in the tournament. I think this was a very complete performance starting the tournament. We took the momentum that we gained from the practice games into this game. Skillwise we were really very good. This is a tournament of all champion teams, where you can't let off at any stage. The batsman chipped in with the runs. Last time we won here, Shikhar and Rohit were the key.

Yuvraj Singh, MoM: Yeah definitely to get some runs on the board it feels good. We all batted well. The openers gave us a very good start. Virat batted well. I was given the opportunity to go out there and attack. Not easy at all. I think you have to back yourself. You have to tell the opposition you are out there to attack and score runs. Depends on how you are feeling that day. I was feeling good today. Lucky got dropped and then capitalized in the end. Finished really well. India-Pakistan is always a big game. I think it sets up nicely. We will take the confidence and momentum forward. Our bowlers did very well throughout the game. We will take the confidence into the game against Sri Lanka.

Harsha Bhogle: For all the effort to put India and Pakistan together to produce a blockbuster, as a contest this was a box-office dud. India's biggest positive was the batting of Yuvraj Singh. Came out of injury to produce a little classic.

06:56pm local: You can celebrate on not, depending on which side you're on: cricket or non-cricket. The game looked over once India went past 300, once Pandya went berserk in the slog overs, and once Pakistan didn't have a clue to a tall run-chase. Azhar Ali was the only one with a half-century, quite in contrast to India, which had all their top four batsmen get to the landmark. Umesh had three wickets, but if you ask me, there was no bowler that won the game for India. It was regular wickets eventualized by Pakistan's urgency for runs, because they were then sitting on a pile of dot balls. Jadeja was brilliant with the ball, getting the important wickets of Azhar and Hafeez, and then was unbelievably stunning with the ball at backward point, running out Malik to seal the deal.

U Yadav to Hasan Ali, out Caught by Dhawan!! Look at Dhawan. Takes it at short mid-wicket, straightens his collar and raps his thigh. Undone by the pace here. Looked late to play across the line and just chipped it to the moustached fielder, with the greatest Mo' twirl, ever. Wahab won't bat - he's absent hurt - and as a result, India win. Hasan Ali c Dhawan b U Yadav 0(2)

U Yadav to Hasan Ali, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

33.3

U Yadav to Hasan Ali, no run, checks his cut shot to backward point. Played it into the pitch, because he didn't find the pace off the pitch

Hasan Ali, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Harsha Bhogle: This is now a boring cricket match, has been for a while. Makes pre-match conversation sound hollow and irrelevant.

U Yadav to Amir, out Caught by Kedar Jadhav!! Hey, Jadhav has taken one here. At short cover, and above his head. A shortish ball that Amir looks to play across the line. Was never going to connect that. Looked like a tired shot. Just-swing-across shot. Spooned it off the splice and popped it to the fielder. Amir c Kedar Jadhav b U Yadav 9(16)

U Yadav to Amir, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

U Yadav to Amir, 2 runs, chipped uppishly through mid-on. Met it with a closed face and used the bottom hand to get it away

And now he's there to take the stumps, again
