If you weren't taking West Indies seriously already, you are now. This has been a statement and a half today, almost resembling their annihilation of England at St Lucia in one of the ODIs a couple of months back. They mean business and if their gun players, who look really hungry, can remain injury free, this might just be something special. Pakistan, on the other hand, have had a shocker. But this is no reason to rule them out. They've come back from bad situations before. Down one day, up the next, who knows. They're Pakistan for a reason. That's all from us for now. It's double-header day tomorrow. Much to look forward to. Join us then. Goodbye!
Jason Holder, West Indies captain: Got off to a really good start. Got wickets with the new ball which is what we ask of the guys. Russell is an impact player. Really good to see the impact he had today, followed by Oshane Thomas. Sheldon (Cottrell) started really well for us. Credit to the boys who stuck to the task. Russell can get the ball through, bowled some sharp balls today. He's one who gives 100% every time even though he might not be 100%. Good to have a young quick. We know Oshane can be expensive, but he's a genuine wicket-taker and that's a gamble we're willing to take. With such high totals these days, you need to get wickets. We see him as an impact player. Chris started us off tremendously. He eases the pressure in a chase like this. He imposed himself and kept them at bay. Wanted to start with a win. Been a long build-up to the tournament. Been anxiously waiting for this first game. Good to get it out of the way. Don't want to get too far ahead. As I said in the press conference, I have no expectations, just want to come out and enjoy our cricket. Play fearless cricket and make the people back home proud.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, Pakistan captain: If you lose the toss in these conditions, and lose wickets, it's hard to come back into the game. Have to play positive cricket here. Didn't do well as a batting unit today. We know they're going to come hard with their pace bowlers. We didn't play well against the short ball. Today was a bad day. Confident my team will bounce back. Good to see Amir bowling well. Always good support here in England.
Oshane Thomas (MoM) - Definitely, great start for me as a youngster, I'm honoured to have got this trophy from Sir Viv Richards. I had a good sleep yesterday (wasn't nervous thinking about the first World Cup game). Andre Russell led the way with the ball, he was very aggressive and basically set it up for us with the aggressive bouncer. We executed our plans well. Anywhere I get to bowl I'm happy to run in and bowl... want to keep winning games for West Indies. I just want to keep working hard and do my things.
13:57 Local Time, 12:57 GMT, 18:27 IST: There are three minutes to go for what would've been the scheduled supper break, and West Indies have wrapped things up already. It took them all of 35.2 overs of onfield action to hand Pakistan their 11th ODI defeat in a row - their longest losing streak in this format. After Sarfaraz's men were blasted out with short balls, Chris Gayle came out with the idea of finishing things off in a hurry and made short work of the chase with a 33-ball fifty.

Riaz to Pooran, SIX, outrageously swats this short ball over midwicket, while advancing down the pitch, almost perfectly capsulizing how West Indies have trampled Pakistan today here at Trent Bridge
Riaz to Pooran, no run, slower leg-cutter outside off, Pooran wanted to fetch it with an on-side swipe but it's out of his reach
Riaz to Pooran, FOUR, makes room, flings his hands at whatever little width was opened up by his footwork, and benefits from a thick top edge that flies over slip
Riaz to Hetmyer, 1 run, some tail on this full toss that follows Hetmyer as he backs away. His slog produces a thick inside edge to fine leg
Riaz to Hetmyer, wide, bit of a wild short ball outside off, Hetmyer lets it go

Hasan Ali to Pooran, no run, back of a length, hopping dab, softening his grip in tapping it to point
Hasan Ali to Hetmyer, 1 run, 136kph, bouncer. Hetmyer takes it on, pulling it well, keeping it down to backward square leg
Hasan Ali to Hetmyer, 2 runs, 141kph, full, tailing in, whipped away round the corner
Hasan Ali to Hetmyer, no run, 135kph, length, angling into off. Carefully blocked
Hasan Ali to Hetmyer, no run, 133kph, quite short. Hetmyer sensibly isn't getting into it, moving out
Hasan Ali to Hetmyer, 2 runs, glanced away off the thighs behind square .. and Had Fakhar Zaman - running in - nailed the direct hit, Hetmyer would've been well short
Hasan Ali [3.0-0-34-0] is back into the attack
