Pakistan have announced themselves in the tournament in classic style. There's too much written about their unpredictability, and with performances such as these, there's much to be written yet. This World Cup needed a thriller, and it's got one. That's all from here. Look out for all the features and reactions from this famous result on the site. Until tomorrow, it's goodbye!

Sarfaraz, Pakistan captain: It's a great team effort. Credit to batsmen for taking us to 350. Then bowlers bowled really well today. Game starts at 10.30, so the first 10 overs are very important. If you lose early wickets, you can't this sort of a total. Fakhar and Imam did a really good job. Started with Shadab today, because we know they're not good batsmen against spin - Roy and Bairstow. Fielding a very important part. The last ODI series, fielding made the difference. Confidence booster for the future. Hopefully we'll play better cricket from here. Not easy to come back from 11 losses in a row.

Morgan, England captain: Very good game of cricket. Great advert for the tournament. Extremely disappointed to be at the wrong end especially when it got so tight. TB (Trent Bridge) is a high-scoring ground. Wasn't concerned with 350. Wicket was very good, outfield was rapid. We felt if we got going, 350 was achievable. Losing early wickets isn't ideal. Joe (Root) and Jos (Buttler) kept us in it as far as the 40th over. Thought we were outfielded today. Probably the difference between the sides. It was way below par today. Probably cost us 15-20 runs. They bowled well. We got a considerable partnership to stay in the game. All round today we weren't that bad. Pakistan played well. Sides will beat each other. Don't think many sides will go unbeaten. Going to be a competitive tournament. Looking forward to Bangladesh.

Mohammad Hafeez | MoM (84 off 62 | 7-0-43-1): Everyone believed we can win the game. We were playing good cricket before but we weren't winning the crucial stages. Today, everyone really chipped in, and gave everything required in the situation. We were very confident. We practised well yesterday, had a good meeting, and we needed one winning performance to start us off. Bowlers did a great job defending the score. Batsmen did a great job setting a great total. The first game didn't go well, but we showed our capability today. I was trying to play my natural shots. The first ball I hit, (I came down the wicket and hit the boundary) - I thought why not apply the pressure straightaway? Sometimes you have to take calculated risks and that really worked for me this game. Whenever we come to UK, we have good support from the crowd. We know we have to play well because it's like a second home to us, and I'd like to thank the crowd for their support. We were playing well before, but we were not winning, and this win will definitely give us a lot of confidence. It will be a really happy dressing room and I hope it remains the same way.

18:50 Local Time, 17:50 GMT, 23:20 IST: Restrained celebrations from captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as he claps his hands and looks to the heavens, even as the Pakistan section of the crowd goes mad around him. Pakistan have ended their record losing streak by taking down the favourites themselves, something that seemed far-fetched after they were blown away by the West Indies. Sarfaraz had labelled their collective failures against the short ball as a one-off, and his batsmen validated him today, right from the tone which Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman set together, through Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez, and then the captain himself to amass close to 350. It's a reality check for England this. 350-plays-350 could be a norm in bilateral one-day cricket, but considering the intensity of the World Cup, it becomes a daunting proposition. Even so, they made a great fist of it through hundreds from Root and Buttler, but their untimely dismissals left the lower order with a steep task, something they weren't up for. The presentations up shortly.

49.6

Riaz to Mark Wood, FOUR, short of length delivery down leg, paddled off the waist into the fine leg boundary. Won't be enough. England, with all their firepower, have fallen short. Famous win for Pakistan here in Nottingham

49.5

Riaz to Adil Rashid, 1 run, dug in short, holds up on the pitch and climbs on Rashid who sticks his bat up while taking his eyes off the ball. Somehow bunts a single into the on-side

49.4

Riaz to Mark Wood, 1 run, pitched up on off, driven to extra cover

49.3

Riaz to Mark Wood, no run, another yorker outside off that storms through to the keeper. Pakistan taking it home

Riaz to Mark Wood, FOUR, all eyes on the umpire as this high full toss is scythed through to the extra cover boundary. But the height's fine. Just below the waist
