Where has this Afghanistan been? It's probably the conditions which haven't suited their style of play. But when they're favourable, as they were today, they can compete with anyone in the world. Anyway, India remain unbeaten and are not far from sealing a place in the semis, while Afghanistan are officially out. That's all from us here. This has been good fun. The other game going on with West Indies and New Zealand promises a lot of fun too. Check that one out. Until next time, this is Sagar Chawla signing off on behalf of MS Ramakrishnan, Raju Peethala, Akshay Maanay, Varun Dixit and our scorer Mukesh. Goodbye!
Kohli (2/2): Its simple we wanted to use him (Bumrah) smartly when the conditions allow him to. He gets a longer spell and because he can pick wickets in the spell he can get you quick wickets. He is the bowler who can do the damage at any stage of the innings and the opposition knows that as well. The communication was to finish him off at 49th over so that Shami has enough runs to defend in the last over and yeah the plan worked really well today. Keeping Chahal back also worked. All in all, the bowling performance was outstanding. Everyone's waiting for an opportunity and I think Shami was really good today and especially his first spell, he was making the ball do more than anyone else today. Vijay Shankar has come in and he showed intent and he is fielding really well. It's an honour for everyone to represent their country in the World Cup. This game was way more important to be honest as I said it didn't go as plan. But when things don't go your way, you need to show some character and bounce back and fight till the last ball and that shows the character of the team. We take a lot of heart from this win and take the confidence going forward.
Virat Kohli | India captain (1/2): It's (the win) right up there to be honest. We have been playing some good cricket and you expect yourself to win the toss and put big runs on the board and then you see the pitch being slow with three quality spinners in the opposition, I felt 270 should have been ideal and thought 250 would have been par. A team like Afghanistan who has a lot of talent doesn't let you play the way you want to play. Everyone had collective belief that we can win this one. As soon as I went in I understood the pace of this pitch, cross batted shots are not easy on this pitch and you gotta play with a straight bat. I was able to rotate strike and our shot selection could have been much better and I think a lot of horizontal bat shots cost us wickets. I figured out that playing with the straight bat is the only way you can get runs on this pitch, you can't really take the game away from the opposition and you gotta respect the conditions to knock the ball around for ones and twos and once you lose wickets then on a pitch like that with three quality wrist spinners, it's always going to be tough and I thought Nabi bowed outstandingly also. They really put pressure on us in the middle overs and as I said our shot selection could have been a lot better.
Gulbadin Naib | Afghanistan captain: We played really well in the first innings. The bowlers bowled really well. We know India have a strong batting line-up. Bumrah was superb at the death - in the last two, three overs. Spinners bowled according to the plan. Rashid, Mujeeb, Rahmat.. Everyone bowled well. In the end it was a good game. The total was not big, but we needed someone to make 80. 30s are not enough to cross the line. We lost badly in the first half of the tournament, but we have played some good cricket in the second half and I am happy with the way the team has performed.
Jasprit Bumrah, Man of the Match: That gives you a lot of confidence, if the captain has so much of trust in you, that gives you a lot of confidence to trust yourself and clear my head in terms of how I want to execute. We saw that wicket was getting slower and slower with the older ball, you need to be more accurate and bowl stump to stump. This is a big ground and there was reverse swing, but you need to rely on your yorkers as well and play according to the situation. It was a tight game and I backed my skills. Sometimes when you run behind wickets, you don't get wickets. We wanted to create pressure and take the run rate high. As soon as the required rate gets high, you get wickets. Gives us healthy competition in the side and we (bowlers) all discuss as what to do and how things are going. It's a good sign when everyone is chipping in with the wickets.

18:33 Local Time, 17:33 GMT, 23:03 IST: India have escaped. They've done it by dint of their winning instincts kicking in. They know how to win, how to close games off. Afghanistan, on the other hand, had not looked like getting close to a win in this tournament before today. And they chose this occasion, against their adopted home, to show what they're made of. Their spinners found their mojo back on a sluggish pitch, sucking the power out of an Indian batting lineup that huffed and puffed to 224. Then, for large parts of the run-chase, many of their batsmen showed composure to build partnerships and take it deep. It set the stage for a thrilling finish where Mohammad Nabi's heroic efforts were trumped by a stunning display of death bowling from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami, nailing yorker after yorker under pressure. India have survived a big scare, and looking at their celebrations, they know it too.
Shami to Mujeeb, out Bowled!! And a yorker to finish it off! Shami's hat-trick seals the deal. This has been special at the death from India. Kohli saved a big chunk of his main two pacers for the finish, who have come through in style. Mujeeb has a go at this delivery but he was never going to connect. Smashes into leg stump. Mujeeb b Shami 0(1)
Shami to Mujeeb, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!
Avishek: I am in train . And for most part without network . Guess what for last half an hour train is still on a deserted platform but there's network ... And I'm wishing it to stop for some more time
Mujeeb Ur Rahman, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Shami to Aftab Alam, out Bowled!! Two in two. India's unflinching machinery to the fore. Full and straight from Shami, Alam swings and misses. The furniture is rattled. Aftab Alam b Shami 0(1)
Shami to Aftab Alam, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!
Aftab Alam, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Harsha Bhogle: Fabulous innings from Nabi. So calm Fantastic cricketer
Shami to Nabi, out Caught by Hardik Pandya!! He's hit this hard, but only as far as Pandya at long-on. India can breathe.... Another delivery that's really well executed. It's full enough to bring about a miscue with Nabi trying to launch. A valiant effort from Afghanistan's original superstar. But it's fallen short. Unless something crazy happens. Nabi c Hardik Pandya b Shami 52(55) [4s-4 6s-1]
Shami to Nabi, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Shami to Nabi, no run, overpitched on middle and leg, Nabi's swipe is ferocious but he hasn't got this off the turf at all. Rolls along to deep midwicket. Nabi declines the single. It's got to be him
