Sri Lanka have sealed their spot in the World Cup with another commanding performance. But not all is lost for Zimbabwe either. Their match against Scotland on Tuesday is going to be a huge one now. Hope you enjoyed our coverage of this game. Until next time, it's goodbye!
Shanaka: Coming into Qualifiers is always tough. But still if you go through the process, with the team we've got here, we know we're going to qualify. Credit to other teams, some of the teams gave us some good fight in between but still we are the better side. Madushanka has been outstanding. This bunch of players, they've got their own skills and utilise the conditions well here. Knowing our strength is the key to success. We play one step at a time. Every game we don't take easy. Not going to take it lightly in the next game, want to prove that we are the better team coming here. It's a big achievement. What we have done in the past in World Cups, it's must needed for SL to appear on the big stage. World Cup ahead is the main focus for us. Waiting to deliver there as well.
Ervine: Was always going to be challenging batting first. There were a couple of soft dismissals too. Losing three wickets early put us on the back foot. He's done it for Sri Lanka on numerous occasions (Theekshana). Partnership between WIlliams and Raza brought us back in the game. And then he came on and destroyed us in the middle. Don't need to prepare any differently than what we have been doing (for the Scotland game).
Theekshana | Player of the Match: We had some good plans. After the first ten overs, we didn't execute the plans well. I had a chat with Dasun and made some changes in the field-set. Because we lost Lahiru, I knew I was going to bowl with the new ball. Dilshan got us three wickets. Sikandar and Sean were batting brilliantly in that period, I knew we needed a wicket. Think I executed the plan and did well. Knew that we had to win all the games in this tournament. We still have two games left and have to win those too.
14:38 Local Time, 12:38 GMT, 18:08 IST: Plenty of smiles in the Sri Lankan dressing room. Nissanka gets a pat on the back from Mendis who played his part in getting him to the hundred. The run chase was a walk in the park for them, cruising home with plenty of time to spare. It was again Sri Lanka's bowling that stood out though. Their bowling group has been instrumental in maintaining the perfect win record right through the tournament. Having won a good toss today, Madushanka and Theekshana led the show at different stages - Madushanka with the new ball, and Theekshana later on - to bundle Zimbabwe out for just 165. Zimbabwe had little chance of defending that, and the door was shut on them by the opening partnership itself. It will now likely be a shootout between Zimbabwe and Scotland for the other spot as Sri Lanka book their ticket to the World Cup.
