That brings an end to our coverage of the first match folks! Ireland registered a famous win with Curtis Campher bowling the spell of his life. But it's a double-header day and Sri Lanka will take on Namibia at the same venue in a while. India and England are playing a warm-up match too. So you can switch tabs and enjoy the coverage of those games in about 45 minutes. From this game, it's curtains down! Ciao!
Andrew Balbirnie | Ireland captain: Feels really good. Losing the toss and chasing that total was good, satisfied with that. We just tried to attack the stumps, we were disciplined. It was a brilliant performance by the bowlers, especially by Curtis Campher. We got a couple of reviews, so that's great in T20 cricket. Gareth played the innings we wanted him to. It was a pretty comfortable chase in the end and we are peaking at the right time.
Seelaar | Netherlands captain: It wasn't the best powerplay. And that put us behind in the game. We could not recover from that freak over (by Campher). Defending 105-odd was never going to be enough, but in the end we fought. It was a tough wicket with the ball holding up a bit. Getting 150-160 and it would have been a good game, but with that total we were always struggling. It's not going to be easy to win three games, so we'll try to bounce back against Namibia in the next game.
Curtis Campher | Player of the Match: I knew there was a glove on it, I heard a sound and thought it had to be the glove (On Ackermann's review). I thought it was definitely hitting the leg stump and I said to Balb to please go upstairs (On Edwards' review). To be honest I didn't feel the best out there coming back from injury, tried to bang the wicket down and keep hitting the hard length, the first over didn't go to plan but the skipper had the faith in me and it worked out well. The bowling department has been working hard; on the yorkers and change ups. Any day I don't bat is a good day, this one to just knock off 6-10 runs was very nice.
17:00 Local Time, 13:00 GMT, 18:30 IST: A clinical performance by Ireland as they have beaten Netherlands comfortably and opened their account in the T20 World Cup qualifiers. Apart from the toss, nothing really worked for the Netherlands in this encounter. They lost Ben Cooper in the first over of the match itself and got off to a really inauspicious start earlier in the day. Max O'Dowd played a responsible knock, but Curtis Campher's over where he bagged four wickets in four successive deliveries, was where Netherlands lost the game. After bowling a rather expensive over, Balbirnie stuck with Campher and the all-rounder delivered a match-defining over, becoming the third bowler in T20Is to claim four wickets in four consecutive balls. And having restricted the opposition to a paltry total, the Irish batters made sure to finish off the run chase nonchalantly with Delany playing an aggressive innings and Stirling playing a rather sedate one, but winning is what really matters..
