Right, we have one qualifier confirmed from Group B. Who will be the other? Will it be Oman or Scotland? The final game of the Muscat leg of the T20 World Cup is coming up next. Do change tabs and join us for all the action. For now, cheers and bye..
Mahmudullah | Winning captain - This was much needed, the way we wanted to play today's game, the intent was there from the batters, the wicket was better compared to the last two games they did a really good job, and the bowlers were equally good. We were concerned about two things - first six overs with both bat and ball, if we get a good start, we can really do well, that's where the focus is. We are much more skilled hitters, rather than being big-hitters. We need to figure things out in the middle, communicate with others and start doing well.
Assad Vala | Losing captain - They got some real momentum towards the end and that was crucial. We did well until then, they started well in the powerplay, but we pulled it back well. but they showed their experience and deserved the win. Losing so many wickets in the powerplay wasn't great either, we didn't find a way to play those situations, probably goes to show the need of confidence - but we'll learn from this and will get better in the future. We have a learnt a lot from this tournament, executing under pressure against quality teams is one takeaway, we haven't been good enough there. We haven't played at this level, but the good thing is we'll go back from this and try and get better in the future.
Shakib Al Hasan | Player of the Match - I'm getting confident with every game. In the T20 format, whoever plays well on that particular day has a chance to win. The pressure is gone, so we can play with more freedom and express ourselves. It's not easy to get back to form, but here I'm getting more opportunity to bat up the order. It has been a long season, and I've been playing nonstop cricket, hopefully I'll be able to pull this (T20 World Cup) off.
17:28 Local Time, 13:28 GMT, 18:58 IST: An 84-run win for Bangladesh and they have moved to the top of the table, at least for the time being. If Oman beat Scotland and do so without any thumping, they will stay there and move into the group consisting of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, New Zealand and A2. Else, they'll move to the other group. A convincing performance today, they were always expected to thump PNG and they did so without any dramas. Won the toss, posted an above par score and never looked like letting the leash off their opponents in the chase. Four wickets for Shakib, who is also the Player of the Match. If there is one concern, they'd be a bit disappointed at not having wrapped this one up early, especially after having PNG at 29 for 7. But that's for later. For now, they can savour the moment and prepare themselves for the bigger tests lying ahead.
Taskin Ahmed to Damien Ravu, out Caught by Nurul Hasan!! Bangladesh are officially through to the Super-12 - PNG did show some fight, but they've been bundled out for 97. A wicket to cap things off for Taskin - short of a length and just outside off, Damien was making room for the slssh, gets a thick edge and the keeper does the rest. Damien Ravu c Nurul Hasan b Taskin Ahmed 5(5) [4s-1]
