So that's it from this interesting contest then. South Africa have got their first win. West Indies are sitting with two losses and the poorest net run rate in the group. It's going to take an unbelievable effort from here for them to advance. Still time left. For now, let's hop tabs to catch the exciting game between New Zealand and Pakistan. See you all there!
Temba Bavuma | South Africa captain: Much better than our first game. We knew the areas we had to improve on, more particularly our batting, our bowling was outstanding. Good day for us. I think the conversations we have on the field are a lot shorter, a lot clearer on what to do, and they (Rabada and Nortje) pass on information to other bowlers as well. Their knowledge has been a positive one for us. We were all watching that (ENG v WI) game, but weren't sure how the wicket was going to react, so we thought Aiden could have a go and he did well. Those are the types of performance we are looking forward to from our batters, Aiden is hitting the ball really well at the moment. I guess a bit of both (got in the way and inspired), when the news (of de Kock) hit us, it did kind of take us back a bit as a team. Losing a guy like Quinny.. he plays a vital role in the team, not only with the bat but as a senior player, but with Klaasen coming in it was an opportunity for him. At the end of the day it was another game of cricket to play for our country and we had to make sure we lived up to that. The guys have been playing with their hearts and would have left everything out there and as the tournament goes on that's what we are looking for.
Kieron Pollard | West Indies captain: We haven't scored enough runs. Batters haven't come to the party, again disappointing today. I thought the first six overs in terms of end result.. 43/0, we will take that. Not losing wickets in the powerplay was important. We lost a couple of wickets later and it was just stop start. Yes he (Simmons) got stuck, these things happen. After six overs he was there and we wanted to bat a couple of more overs without losing wickets but you are not going to get me pinpoint and you are not going to get me throwing my players under the bus. At the end of the day he was out there trying for us. Yes he may not have got it done, but when you look at it... Rassie played for them, the only difference is he came out not out but his strikerate was low as well. It was a total disappointing batting effort. We need to win first before thinking of net run rate. I thought the bowlers did well to bring it down to 18 odd overs. Batting has disappointed us, which is why we lost today.
Anrich Nortje | Player of the Match: 100 percent, it's (playing IPL in the UAE) helped me quite a lot. It's helped us as well being able to give some information to the team on conditions, that's probably the situation for all the players in all the teams. Just having the confidence of knowing the conditions and understanding what to do, when to do it definitely has helped me coming here. It was a good wicket, similar to the IPL, playing around with the ball with the grip - definitely it brings in some extra variation and something else to the bowlers. It's always nice working with him (Rabada), his ideas and knowledge about game in the situation. It's not a lot about skill anymore, it's about understanding and communication on the field. It's really nice to have him around. We said we were quite happy with that happened in the game (against Australia). With the batting, we wanted to improve. What the guys did out there was awesome. Hopefully we can build on this. I don't think we're close to a perfect game, but we can keep on building and try to get as close to that perfect game as possible. That's all I want to do - just keep on improving every day.
Bavuma opted to bowl and his bowlers were brilliant at the start. West Indies scored just 6 runs in the first three overs. Lewis then took on Markram as Bavuma overbowled him at that point trying to buy another cheap/wicket-taking over. Suddenly West Indies got 30 runs in the next 2 overs, but Lendl Simmons just couldn't find the gaps, forget middling the ball. Lewis got a 35-ball fifty, but it was negated because Simmons wasn't even striking at 50. The Proteas then used their bowlers. Maharaj was brave bowling to left-handers and got two of them in his spell. Shamsi had an off day. Rabada was good with his bowling and catching. Nortje was outstanding yet again. Pretorius was difficult to get away with his variations and South Africa outsmarted power-hitters by setting smart fields.
17:32 Local Time, 13:32 GMT, 19:02 IST: West Indies were beaten 2-3 in their own backyard a few months ago and South Africa have beaten them here at the World Cup too. They had this sealed with the ball in hand literally. We will go there in a bit. How good was Reeza Hendricks up at the top. Looked neat with his shots even against spin and he never gave West Indies an opportunity while RVD dropped anchor. The chase wasn't big. Hendricks was going well, so RVD could afford to snail around. Markram came in and took over when West Indies got the rate up with a few dots. Hayden Walsh's 16-run 3rd over hit West Indies badly. Hosein didn't have great control too. Every time West Indies were inching back, Markram took the journey to and over the fence to negate. In the end he recorded a 25-ball brilliantly paced fifty - the fastest of this edition. RVD got a few away too to ensure they win with 10 balls to spare.
Russell to Markram, 1 run, short delivery, Markram pulls it to deep square leg and it's a comprehensive win for South Africa
Russell to Markram, SIX, what a way to raise the fifty. Scores level too. Slower delivery on the leg stump, Markram stays leg-side of the ball and muscles it over wide long-on. Gentle raise of the bat, well. Can be more than that because it's actually the fastest fifty of the comp.

Dwayne Bravo to Markram, 1 run, nice yorker on the leg stump, Markram digs it out to mid-wicket, looks for two but Pollard gets to the ball quickly
Dwayne Bravo to van der Dussen, 1 run, yorker on the stumps, RVD digs it out towards long-on
Dwayne Bravo to van der Dussen, no run, very well bowled wide full delivery angling across, RVD couldn't reach out
Dwayne Bravo to Markram, 1 run, dipping slower ball low full toss, Markram backs away and drives to deep cover
Dwayne Bravo to van der Dussen, 1 run, pushed to deep cover
Dwayne Bravo to van der Dussen, no run, yorker outside off stump, RVD digs it out towards extra-cover. Yes-no, sent back, gets home diving. Gayle doesn't bend to get the ball, Russell has him covered and fires the throw. The ball bounces over the stumps and Russell can't believe
Just 11 needed. SA will be looking to finish with at least an over to spare

Russell to Markram, FOUR, and again! That front foot opening up right towards the bowler and then the bat comes down hard to slice the drive over cover. Flat boundary one bounce and West Indies have lost belief. Dre Russ tries the wide yorker, misses by a yard and goes to the fence
Russell to van der Dussen, 1 run, short of length delivery outside off stump, RVD cuts square of the wicket on the off-side
Russell to Markram, 1 run, dug out to cover
Russell to Markram, FOUR, that is a top-class shot. To a wide yorker, it's important to open up the front foot to access the extra-cover region and Makram has done exactly that. Hetmyer seems to have stopped that fine. They are checking, oh dear! He stopped the ball very well, but when trying to get up and pick up the ball, his leg touched the boundary cushion
Russell to van der Dussen, 1 run, goes for the wide yorker from round the wicket, RVD tries to drive through cover, mistimes to long-off
