Netherlands did try but they lost the key moments and hence they also lost the game. Bangladesh were patchy with the bat. But Afif Hossain's ressurection act with the bat in the middle overs did give them some cushion. Then Taskin owned the bowling innings to ensure Bangladesh stayed ahead while defending 144. This is Bangladesh's first win in the second round of a T20 World Cup game. You can switch tabs and hop on to the second game of the day. Bye bye for now..

Shakib Al Hasan: It was very important to get a win. I have played all the editions of (T20 World Cup) but we haven't won and that was on the back of my mind. We kept losing wickets at regular intervals and that wasn't helping us. We knew that 155 would have been a great total, we were 10 runs short. The fast bowlers bowled well. We understand the importance of fast bowling, we have found some very good bowlers. Taskin has been a good bowler for us, he has the experience and pace. Most of the fielders in our team are agile and quick, in the field we can save 5-10 runs, and that could be the big difference.

Scott Edwards: Our bowlers were quite amazing, and they (Bangladesh) were around 10-15 runs short. But our run-outs (Max ODowd and Tom Cooper) were poor. Colin Ackermann and Paul van Meekeren helped us to get closer to the total. Hopefully we can bring in a better performance with the bat, looking forward to the next challenge (against India).

Taskin Ahmed | Player of the Match: It's a good win for us, we needed it. As a team we played really well and I am happy to contribute in today's win. I tried to stick to the basics. I tried to bowl the Test match lengths and the ball shaped away too. I just tried to give my best. I can move the ball both ways, that's the main focus and something I have worked on for the World Cup.

18:41 Local Time, 07:41 GMT, 13:11 IST: Netherlands have fallen short by 9 runs but it is a bit of misnomer that the game was close. They bowled with a lot of heart after Bangladesh openers got a good start. But despite restricting Bangladesh to 144, their batters came a cropper today. Colin Ackermann played a valiant knock but hardly got any support from the other end. Taskin provided a dream start with a couple of wickets off the first two balls of the innings. Then a couple of run-outs in the fourth over almost killed the chase. Edwards and Ackermann added 44 for the fifth wicket but once Edwards fell, it was again Netherlands looking down the barrel. They continued getting that odd boundary but never really threatened much. The last pair kept it going but Bangladesh had their pacers doing well and closing it out. There were a few rain interruptions as well but both the teams managed to eke out a full game. The final scorecard does suggest that Netherlands did come close and lost by only 9 runs but they needed a more potent display with the bat.

Soumya Sarkar to van Meekeren, out Caught by Litton Das!! Goes for the slog sweep and the man at deep mid takes. Was a fuller length delivery, slower as well and van Meekeren smoked it across the line but ended up finding the man in the deep. Was well hit but the long boundaries again not aiding the batter. Bangladesh have won by 9 runs. van Meekeren c Litton Das b Soumya Sarkar 24(14) [4s-3 6s-1]

Soumya Sarkar to van Meekeren, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

19.5

Soumya Sarkar to van Meekeren, 2 runs, slower delivery, van Meekeren slogs that down the ground and the ball falls well short of the man at long-on. Only a couple. Netherlands have come close but they needed much better

19.4

6

Soumya Sarkar to van Meekeren, SIX, low full toss and slammed over deep square for a sixer. That's a meaty blow. Netherlands can make a match out of it? The last pair has done well so far. Soumya Sarkar will be under some pressure

19.4

Soumya Sarkar to van Meekeren, wide, slower, shorter, wider, van Meekeren throws his bat at it and misses. 18 needed

19.3

Soumya Sarkar to Fred Klaassen, 1 run, low full toss, clubbed across the line to deep mid for a single. 19 needed off 3 balls

19.2

Soumya Sarkar to Fred Klaassen, 2 runs, fuller length delivery, outside off, Fred Klaassen drills it over cover for a couple more. 20 runs needed now. The man at deep cover did well to dive and slide to push the ball away

19.1

Soumya Sarkar to Fred Klaassen, 2 runs, fuller length delivery, outside off, Fred Klaassen slogs it across the line for a couple of runs. That was mistimed

RM: Very good knock from Colin Ackermann. One that might have well taken his team home if there were a couple of partnerships in the middle overs. Not to be though
