That's a helluva pretty trophy. And one thing's for sure, Afghanistan players know how to pose in audibles. Everyone's buzzing behind that trophy! But what a story, what a stunning story of resurgence. Losing the first three games to almost be dumped out of the tournament, to having other results go your way whilst being busy at winning every game that you've on your hands, has to be a part of Afghanistan's folklore. We're in the middle of a great story, people. Savour it; Afghanistan are headed for more showstopping bouts. I, Pratyush Sinha, and my colleagues, Akshay Maanay, Varun Dikshit and Sreenivas, will be there to bring that to you. Have a good Sunday, ta-ta!
Stanikzai - captain, Afghanistan: "We are very happy because this was our dream. This is not just our dream, this is our Afghanistan's dream. We beat them (Windies) in the practice game and the Super Sixes too. And it was big news because Windies are a full-member team. I feel good now. Afghanistan people wanted the cup, that's why I wanted to play in the game. I took the risk [talking about his health and comeback] but now it's good. [Goes on to thank his countrymen in Pashto/Dari]"
Afghanistan players get their medallions now. Stanikzai will get it last and have a word.
Holder - captain, Windies: "Congratulations to Afghanistan on a very good tournament, especially after coming back from where they were. We didn't get over the line and I'm not really proud of that. Nobody put their hand up. Was a long tournament in a short space of time. Lot of guys were carrying niggles at the start of the tournament, so credit to them for continuing. Proud of my guys. Disappointed to not win the final but we played outstanding cricket in this tournament. Want to thank the whole group. Hopefully we can pick ourselves up."
Time for Windies players to collect their medallions.
Sikandar Raza - Player of the Tournament: "Certainly not happy at all. This trophy is a painful reminder of the dreams that we had, of the 15 million dreams we crushed. When I started playing cricket, I thought it was to unite the country, players of different backgrounds, everyone who comes together to play this beautiful sport. Unfortunately that's not going to happen. It's a tough pill to swallow. This trophy will also serve as a reminder for Peter Borren and the Dutch players, for Kyle Coetzer and his Scottish players, for Mustafa and his UAE players, and all the countries who couldn't make it to the World Cup. Congrats to Nepal on the ODI status. This trophy will also serve as a painful reminder for the two of our brother countries who lost their ODI status. I wish them luck. Not much to say; going through a lot of emotions."
Shahzad - Player of the Match: "My form came back at the right time, when my team needed it. My team played good cricket and now we're champions. Proud of the guys. I know my strengths. We have the World No. 1 spinner, that's why I said to Windies that 'we are coming.' I always enjoy my batting. The wicket was better for batting in the second innings. My job is to hit the ball and people's job is to watch the ball, so I don't watch the ball when I hit it. Windies players, I love them, they are good human beings. I have a lot of friends in the team."
Afghanistan team is being aptly led by Shahzad into the celebrations too. They're grooving to Bravo's 'Champion' song. We'll be back with the presentations soon.
04:10pm local: Has to be a big day in Afghanistan's cricketing history. They started the day as a World Cup participant, and are ending the day with a title and a statement, that they won't be the designated pushovers in England next year. Mujeeb's four wickets meant that the battle was half-won in the innings break. Shahzad then brisked to 84, that must be said was strewn with theatrical poses, and that made the job even easier. Gayle's off-spin bowling might be the only positive Windies take back from this game. But hey, they've a World Cup berth too.
Gayle to Nabi, SIX, Afghanistan win the ICC World Cup Qualifiers, 2018. "It's a comeback of miraculous proportions," is how Ian Bishop announces it on air. Nabi finishes the chase with the third consecutive six off Gayle. Stretches on his front foot and lofts it hard over long-off
Gayle to Nabi, SIX, that's on the roof! Waits for the flighted delivery and goes through with the big hit over long-on, again
Gayle to Nabi, SIX, we've been expecting that. Early room to move down leg and then lays into this overflighted delivery with a lift-up over long-on
Gayle to Shenwari, 1 run, swept to backward square leg

Keemo Paul to Shenwari, 1 run, rides the bounce nicely here. Angled into him, Shenwari works it to backward square leg
Shahzad has been in his elements in the dressing room's balcony too. Constantly chirping..
Keemo Paul to Shenwari, no run, covers the off-stump and leaves this one outside off
Keemo Paul to Shenwari, FOUR, overpitched, and drilled wide of mid-off. Finally a boundary. Afghanistan need 19 more
Keemo Paul to Shenwari, no run, leave outside off. Angled in from wide of the crease, and it keeps doing so
Keemo Paul to Nabi, 1 run, nice pull shot, coming off the one leg and all, but played straight to fine leg
Loses his run-up
