PLAYER OF THE MATCH : Mehidy Hasan Miraz

Bowler
So Mehidy Hasan Miraz has just showed the value of your bowlers being able to contribute with the bat. Mind you, he's opened in T20s and played quite a few cameos in the middle-order before. This only adds cushion to the XI and allows some flexing either with bat or ball. So Sunday was fun. Australia romped home to victory over West Indies. England made an eyebrow raising declaration playing their attractive brand of cricket in Rawalpindi and now both sides have a great chance tomorrow. Bangladesh stunned India here. These two sides will lock horns again on Wednesday afternoon. See you all soon!
Great day for Bangladesh. Great start to this series for them. Was it that dropped catch by KL Rahul? Was that inability to break the last wicket stand that cost India the game? To be fair, that was a 250 pitch and you can't expect to win with just 186 on the board. Having said that, the bowlers did an outstanding job to make it a big enough target.
Litton Das | Bangladesh captain: Very happy. I was very nervous sitting in the dressing room. I enjoyed Mehidy's batting in the last 6-7 overs. Siraj and Shardul bowled very well in the middle overs and shifted the momentum towards their side. When me and Shakib were batting we thought we could chase this easily, but it got difficult after we both got out and India bowled really well. Outstanding innings from Mehidy.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz | PoTM: I am really happy and excited. I was only thinking about focusing on one area and believing in that strategy and I knew I only needed to bat about 20 balls to get going. I tried to bowl wicket to wicket with the ball. It is a memorable performance for me.
Rohit Sharma | India captain: It was a very close game. We did pretty well to comeback into that position. We didn't bat well. 184 wasn't good enough, but we bowled pretty well and they held their nerve in the end. If you look back how we bowled right from ball one - of course we would have loved to bowl better at the end - but we bowled pretty well for 40 overs and took wickets. We just didn't have enough runs. Another 25-30 runs would have helped. We were looking at 240-250 after the 25-over mark. When you keep losing wickets it is difficult. We need to learn and understand how to play on such wickets. No excuses for us because we are used to these wickets. I don't really know how much they can improve in a couple of practice sessions. I feel the genes are there and it's only about handling pressure. I am sure these guys will learn and we look forward to the next game. Hopefully we can change things around. We know exactly what we need to do in these conditions.
Turns out it was a good game. Started with some tackiness with India struggling. Shakib bossed his way to a stunning five-wicket haul. KL Rahul played a grinding 73 to post a fighting total. India used all the help from the pitch - both pacers and spinners to put Bangladesh under pressure. Washi started the collapse by getting a set Litton Das and Bangladesh lot 7 wickets for 62 runs since then. India were cruising home with the passionate home crowd stunned, but Mehidy lifted their spirits shot by shot. Showed how a determined batter can still score runs on this pitch and in the end a bit of dew gave aid as well. Not to discount Fizz's valuable gluing at the end than trying to slog and let his partner down.
19:45 Local Time, 13:45 GMT, 19:15 IST: The crowd can go back very happy. What a roller coaster of a game. India should not have been in a great position for the score they posted, but Bangladesh played absolutely poor cricket in the middle overs. And then they made a mega comeback towards the end led by Mehidy to stun the Indians with an unbeaten 51-run last wicket stand. Six years ago they made a mess needing 2 runs off 3 balls trying to go for glory. This time it's all calmness from Mehidy Hasan Miraz that he only played a controlled shot for the winning runs. Lessons learnt. Teammates lift Mehidy and Mushfiqur is absolutely thrilled - so much so that you fear his eyes will pop out as he animatedly congratulates Mehidy for his outstanding effort.

Chahar to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 1 run, driven in the gap and it's a brilliant come from behind win for Bangladesh. Mehidy Hasan Miraz is the hero. He runs off, takes the helmet away and celebrates with his teammates
Field up on the off-side
Bangladesh dug out is ready to celebrate
Chahar to Mustafizur, 1 run, short of length delivery on the leg stump, Mustafizur knocks it to short mid-wicket and takes off, throw goes to the bowler's end and it's a direct-hit but Fizz was home just in time. Scores level and what a time to raise the fifty partnership
Direct-hit but looks like Fizz might have sneaked home for a run! IN
Slip, backward point very close
Mehidy Hasan Miraz walks up to Mustafizur for a chat. Is he telling him just to hang around and hand it to him next over?
Chahar to Mustafizur, no run, bumper close to off and angling across, Mustafizur slogs and misses
Chahar to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, no ball, 1 run, short delivery, Mehidy pulls this uppishly to deep mid-wicket, doesn't carry and it's only one run. Hang on, they are checking upstairs and it's a no ball from Chahar for overstepping
Chahar to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, no run, oh that was in the slot to be smashed. Shorter than the first ball, hit me ball from Chahar, Mehidy tried the upper cut and missed. Very lucky there, Deepak Chahar on that occasion
Chahar to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, no run, short delivery, it's outside off stump and he wasn't backing away to slice, so bailed out of the pull shot
Only one shot away now
Chahar to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, FOUR, short and wide, poor ball, Mehidy Hasan Miraz cuts away over backward point and the crowd are dancing. What a timely hand, what a partnership
