No Result - due to rain

That's the end of this series then. New Zealand have a break now before they travel to Pakistan for two Tests and three ODIs. India head straight to Bangladesh for three ODIs, followed by two Tests to keep the interest high in the 2021-23 World Test Championship. Australia have started brilliantly well against West Indies today in Perth. Plenty of cricket lined up for you. See you at every possible opportunity. Eat healthy, take care!
Kane Williamson | New Zealand captain: When we have been playing cricket we have been applying ourselves. Some good stuff in the rained off games too. We knew that 20 overs would constitute a match, but we could see the weather coming, it has been following us. Daryl has been hanging out for a bowl for ages. Milne felt a niggle but didn't want to stop. Focus changes to the Test arena. Guys get a break now and that's important too. Been pretty busy. We will regroup as a Test team after the break.
Shikhar Dhawan | India captain: Absolutely, going to Bangladesh, hopefully the weather will be better there. We are a young unit. The bowling unit learnt about bowling the good length area more. We were short at times. All the seniors are going to be back in the side. More Asian wickets is a more practical journey to the World Cup for us. Important to get the small things right - right lengths for the bowlers, batting close to the body in these conditions for the batters... these are the learnings.
Tom Latham | Player of the Series: It was a nice series for the whole group and personally as well. Bit of a shame I didn't get any play in the next two games. We bowled fantastically well this morning. Hit the right lengths and got some movement off the surface and restricted them to that total. Finn played uncharacteristic in terms of his usual aggressive way. The ball was moving around and it did enough out of the right lengths. Mitchell did a fantastic job too. Lot of the guys have played each other, especially the IPL so there is some friendly banter. Certainly not cold for us but very cold for them (smiles).
Hang on, players are shaking hands. Match has been called off. New Zealand were in the driver's seat to make it 2-0, but rain played spoilsport. Clearly, they were the better side today, with the ball and definitely with the bat. India did not apply themselves on a testing pitch as a whole batting unit. Washi and Shreyas were the only ones to adapt well. All of New Zealand pacers bowled well with Milne and Mitchell sharing six wickets between them. India did get the new ball to swing and seam. Both Conway and Allen were troubled on a number of occasions but Allen got away with a few edges and completed his fifty. Conway lined up Chahar for 4 fours to put New Zealand well ahead. Two more overs were needed to get a result but the rain, which stayed away in the afternoon and evening, turned up in sizeably.
22:00 Local Time, 09:00 GMT, 14:30 IST: Still raining. Umps talking to the groundstaff, possibly understanding how much time would be needed to get the ground ready should the rain stop. 22:50 is the latest play can resume.
Balachandar: @Frank Howard -- The reason why that is not enough is because, theoretically NZ could lose 5 wickets in next 2 overs and that could tilt the equation in favour of India. So, the cut-off time of 20 overs should be completed even if the target had already surpassed in 18 overs.
Frank Howard: What if New Zealand has already exceeded the target for 20 overs? In essence, if the DLS target for 20 over is 98 runs revised using DLS, in that case do they automatically win? -- New Zealand will have to play two more overs as DLS target comes into picture only after the completion of 20 overs.
21:10 Local Time, 08:10 GMT, 13:40 IST: Still raining. The umpires are having a chat with the groundstaff. We still have some time before we can call off the game but some people have started to leave.
Ankur: What happens if we get 10-15 mins to play 2 overs - what would be the DLS target in that case given NZ are way ahead right now? Will it be just a matter of playing out 2 overs to complete 20 overs? -- "Just a matter of playing out 2 overs."
srinivas: What will be the DLS par score right now? -- "New Zealand are 50 runs ahead as per DLS but it won't matter if we don't get 20 overs."
20:50 Local Time, 07:50 GMT, 13:20 IST: The rain is not heavy but steady and those are the kind which can be frustrating. The crowd are enjoying themselves with kids playing on the grass banks. Meanwhile, the groundstaff are working on clearing the water and keeping the ground dry as much as possible. We just need 8-10 minutes to bowl the two overs and we have time till 22:30 local.
20:20 Local Time, 07:20 GMT, 12:50 IST: It was drizzling for a little while now but seems to have gotten heavier. The umpires have called for the covers and the players are walking off the field. We need 20 overs to constitute a game and we are two overs short. The big covers are also coming on. "The rain is very steady," informs Simon Doull on air.

Arshdeep Singh to Conway, no run, shaping away from a good length spot, Conway waves his bat and lets it pass
Arshdeep Singh to Conway, FOUR, short of length and this time Conway latches onto it, he quickly gets into position and nails the pull to deep mid-wicket. He missed out early in the over but not this time
Arshdeep Singh to Conway, no run, full pitcher around off, Conway drives sans timing and finds cover
It is very cold with most of the people in the stand under blankets and jackets. The Indian players too are feeling it and some of them are wearing beanies
Arshdeep Singh to Conway, no run, back of a length outside off, Conway lifts his bat and lets it go
Arshdeep Singh to Conway, 2 runs, short of length and Conway is on one leg to play the pull, mistimes it through mid-wicket and settles with a brace

5-0-31-1
Umran Malik to Williamson, no run, nips back in from short of length, Williamson shoulders arms. That was close to off-stump but didn't do enough to hit it
Umran Malik to Williamson, no run, short of length outside off, Williamson covers the line and lets it pass
Umran Malik to Williamson, no run, uhhh! That's a beauty from Umran. Hits the hard length and still extracts something, Williamson hangs back to defend but the ball just nibbles away slightly to beat the outside edge
