The most successful people don't see adversity as a stumbling block but as a stepping stone to a brighter future. That is what Shanaka's band of boys have done. India just didn't have much going for them. They again lost the toss. The wicket had been under covers but despite that - Ruturaj Gaikwad - one of the four debutants gave a decent account of himself during the powerplay. Post that though the slower balls ruled the roost and India's decline started. The defence was a stoic one from the Indians but DDS was supposed to be the saviour. But what about that sixer from Karunaratne? Little things, little moments do go unnoticed at times. We hope our little time out here has entertained you enough. That has been my time here for the evening. This is Kumar Abhisekh Das signing off on behalf of Hariprasad Sadanandan and Siva!

Dasun Shanaka: I thought if we can keep them under a low score, we can chase it. Strategy was to go hard in the first six overs. Then I went into the middle but couldn't do much. But DDS and Hasaranga did well in the middle overs. When it comes to international cricket, different boys are performing. I should thank BCCI and SLC to allow us to showcase our talent during these tough tough times.

Shikhar Dhawan: The surface turned and was a stopping a bit. We knew we were one batter short. We knew we had to construct our innings smartly. We were 10-15 runs short. That would have made the difference. I am proud of the boys. Never say die attitude is amazing. Hats off to the boys for taking it into the last over.

Dhananjaya de Silva, Man of the Match: We were looking for this win. I am happy to contribute to a win for SL. I always thought and knew it was about one big over. I decided to bat till the end. We held our nerves today. It is always tough against India.

India also didn't help their own cause as the slippery conditions did not allow them a great day on the field. Catches went down. Misfields and all of it added up. All these can't parameterised and you can't really analyse how much damage control could have been done. Ifs and buts have no place. Kudos to the hosts who also weren't that bulky on experience but their most experienced batter came to the party and delivered the K.O. A round each to both. The final one shall be another pot-boiler.

23:27 Local Time, 17:57 GMT, 23:27 IST: Strike while the iron is hot! Exactly what SL did today. They were abundantly disciplined more so on the field. So much so that the usually cranky Mickey Arthur could afford regular bouts of smiles. They bowled with purpose and mixed their pace up delightfully. The wafer-thin batting line-up of the visitors in the fear of early exposure applied the coat of caution a little too much and it clearly didn't help. The meandering post the powerplay never ended. The drudgery yielded 132 from 20 overs. The batters were due and they did deliver. The experience of Dhananjaya de Silva was so crucial as he anchored the chase the moment he came in. Hasaranga as well as Karunaratne played their little hands too.

19.4

Chetan Sakariya to de Silva, 1 run, SL have won a thriller! They have won by four wickets to level the series 1-1. Fuller, wider, de Silva steers the ball away to point and scampers through to make it. And rightly so, DDS has scored the winning runs

19.3

Chetan Sakariya to de Silva, 2 runs, pulls the ball down and gets it down to deep mid for two more. Long boundaries and that helps. The scores are level. The Lankan exults in delight. Look at those happy faces

19.2

Chetan Sakariya to de Silva, 2 runs, steers the ball away and the man at point dives to get a hand. 3 more needed now. That was well played and well placed. The experience of de Silva has helped. He has kept a cool head amidst all the hullabaloo

19.2

Chetan Sakariya to Karunaratne, 2 wides, was it a wide? Bhuvi was lucky and I feel Chetan Sakariya wasn't that lucky over there. That was angled across, Karunaratne after getting across threw his willow at it and missed. The keeper fumbled and allowed the extra run. Dhawan and the bowler ask the umpire about the call - all they get in return is a smile and a couple of words justifying the call. It was just over the tramline but the batsman had moved, so the line moves. Marginal call. Could've gone either way. The Lankan team meanwhile roars in delight

19.1

Chetan Sakariya to de Silva, 1 run, de Silva was trying to slog it away but fails to make great contact. Just softens the blow across the line and behind square on the on-side for a single. 7 needed off 5 now

18.6

Bhuvneshwar to Karunaratne, 2 runs, throws his bat at a wide one. No conviction but fortune as they say favours the brave. Two more as the sliced hit went over the point fielder. 8 needed now and the debutant will bowl the final over

18.5

Bhuvneshwar to Karunaratne, no run, Bhuvneshwar must be a lucky man! He can buy a lottery ticket today. Last game, first over, one well inside the tramline was given a wide but this one wasn't as Karunaratne tried to cut but failed. It all evens out in the end

Definitely Lanka should win this from here. India haven't fielded well today.

18.4

Bhuvneshwar to Karunaratne, 2 runs, excellent effort from Saini and SL get a couple. Saini seems to have landed very badly on his right hand. Was a slower ball outside off, Karunaratne threw his bat at it and got it just over a leaping extra-cover fielder. The fielder there got a hand to it but failed to grab it. Saini doesn't look good to me as he is assisted off the field. 10 needed off 8 balls now

18.3

6

Bhuvneshwar to Karunaratne, SIX, Bhuvi was punished in the ODIs by this man and now this might be the clincher. That was a full toss out of nowhere and has been slammed over wide long-on for a sixer. Poor delivery and put away. That has swung the equation back in favour of SL. 12 needed off 9

18.2

Bhuvneshwar to de Silva, 1 run, slogs across the line to wide of long-on and they take only a single. That's strange, they could have pushed for a second there but were caught napping

18.1

Bhuvneshwar to Karunaratne, 1 run, slippery ball won't be easy to catch either thanks to the fresh bout of drizzle. That was a wide length delivery and Karunaratne threw his bat at it to send it to cover

Bhuvneshwar Kumar [3.0-0-9-1] is back into the attack

Wow! Only if this match didn't have enough drama. Now, Mother Nature has intervened for a minute. The bails were removed and have been put back on now as well. Had the game been stopped now and not restarted, SL would have found themselves 3 runs short.
