For the Windies though, their slim hopes of staying in contention for the 2019 World Cup looks all doomed. They continue to churn out talents, but the answers to why they can't find consistency is something only Albert Einstein can find out. Or maybe he might as well not, if he was alive. That'll be it from the ODI series. We have a lone T20I match coming up on Sunday at the same venue. Remember to join us for one final time. Goodnight and here's wishing MSD, the legend of Indian cricket, a very happy birthday. Cheers from Raju Peethala on behalf of Akshay Maanay, Abhishek Chaudhary, Vineet Anantharaman and Venky. Ta!

India have been thoroughly dominant throughout the series. Except for the blip in the last game, they never looked out of sorts. Kuldeep Yadav and Rahane have been the biggest positives, while middle order remains to be a subject of rumination. Some might argue, they should have given Rishabh Pant a go, but Kohli's tactics seemed justified as he mastered his troops with clear strategy and subtlety.

Rahane, Man of the Series: I really want to make it count, and even in the Champions Trophy I had been batting well in the nets. This wicket was slightly better as compared to the previous games. The ball was coming on nicely, and this was the best wicket to bat on. I was just trying to enjoy my batting. ODI cricket is all about enjoying your batting and go at your own pace. Whenever I go onto bat, I always look to give my best, today me and Shikhar tried our best to get India off to a good start.

(2/2) If you carry 15-16 members in the squad, it's important to believe in their abilities. If you are playing for the nation, you have to be good at this level. People are grabbing their opportunities. DK, Kuldeep have been good. Shami is playing an ODI almost after two years, hats off to those guys for grabbing the opportunities. I have always been a batsman that's played the situation and that's something that has never changed. I still think the same way I used to when I wasn't the captain. It's a taking a bit more responsibility for the guys at the other end. That's always a nice thing to learn and also makes you understand the game better as well. I'm relishing the opportunity.

Virat Kohli, Man of the Match: (1/2) First and foremost, the aim was to win the series, have a complete team performance and a couple of standout performances. Special mention to Rahane who has been consistent throughout the series. It has been a while in ODI cricket and the way he batted was outstanding. Shikhar was really good at the top as well. Kuldeep Yadav with the ball was also outstanding. Every time with the ball, we were on the button and been consistent. Really pleased with the whole team effort. Today was another clinical performance from us. Winning convincingly in a chase is always a nice feeling and something we aim to do as a team. I didn't want to disappoint you (Darren Ganga). You mentioned, two failures in the last 2 games, for me it is all about getting the team across the line. I never look at stats and numbers. For me it is all about looking at the scoreboard and focus on what I need to achieve. Which bowlers to target and when we need to give respect to the bowlers. Even if it is a big total or small total I like playing with the tempo of the game. Stringing partnerships help. DK and Rahane have been excellent. Communication really helps. General mindset is to get the team across the line.

Holder: We got a very good start. Unfortunately Kyle Hope got out when we were building some momentum. I just hope that the guys learn quickly. I can only control what I can control. It's a relatively inexperienced side and hope we get some results our way going forward. The pitch was good throughout the entire game. We just didn't capitalise. We lost wickets at crucial stages and never recovered from there. Our bowling has been good in few of the games, and that will be the positives I'll be taking from this series. Still a lot of work to be done in terms of consistency.

Our statsman, Deepu Narayanan had a field day today, digging out numbers for fun..

Most centuries in ODIs:
49 Tendulkar (452 innings)
30 Ponting (365)
28 Jayasuriya (433)/ Kohli (181*)

Kohli now has 5159 runs in chases - 7th most by any batsman. He went past Mahela Jayawardene (5150), Aravinda de Silva (5134) & Ricky Ponting (5074) during this innings.

Most 100s in ODI chases:
18 KOHLI (102 innings*)
17 Tendulkar (232)
11 Dilshan (116)/ Gayle (139)
10 Saeed Anwar (105)/ Jayasuriya (210)

Most runs for India in a series vs WI:
336 RAHANE (2017)
312 VVS Laxman (2002)
305 Rohit Sharma (2011)
300 Dravid (2002)

Harsha Bhogle: Very happy for Dinesh Karthik. Has kept at it and changed the flow of the game today.

15:50 local: This pitch has been the best, in terms of batting, so far in the series. Windies had a great chance of engineering a big score after winning the toss. But they couldn't make best use of the conditions. Both the Hope brothers got out at the most inappropriate juncture, and with that Windies' hopes of levelling the series perished. Dhawan had another failure, while Rahane fell short of a record-equalling fifty. Bar that, India's chase was smooth and serene. The chasemaster Kohli came into his own and sent the Windies into submission with a sublime hundred. DK played the second fiddle. To be fair, that's all he needed to do.

Roston Chase to Kohli, SIX. That's it from Chase and that'll be it from the Chasemaster. Whiplashed away over long-on and that's a series victory for India. They win this 3-1. Their third consecutive series win against the Windies in the Caribbean Island. Holder and Co. swarm around Kohli to congratulate him on the series win and on his personal landmark. One more series in the bag for India
