Jason Holder: Obviously a disappointing day with the weather. Our openers assessed it really well, some balls were stopping and coming on a tacky pitch. They needed to spend some time in the middle. Hopefully the weather stays good and we get to play some cricket. But we need to stay consistent and if we can get that, it can bring in good habits for people.

Virat Kohli: It's probably the worst part of cricket, a stop-start is never a good feeling. Either it should rain out or play the full game. The more stops you have, the more you want to be careful to ensure that the players don't injure themselves. Cricket has come a long, long way. England for example have done really well with their turnaround. Scores of 400 are being scored regularly now. The game is moving fast because of the T20 influence into the games, and it is only to go higher and higher as we go ahead. The guys are fitter, sharper now and all teams will have to keep up with that. A few of the pitches in the Caribbean can really test you. Some pitches might have good pace and bounce but some of them will be on the slower side and you need to be patient. The team that adapts well and plays better percentage cricket will benefit. Both teams will look to do that in the coming days.

We'll leave you with the captain comments as a bonus.

15:12 Local Time, 19:12 GMT, 00:42 IST: That's it, the match has been abandoned. There's no rain of note right now, but whatever came before did enough damage that couldn't have been repaired within the cut-off time. 13 overs is all we had today, and the biggest thing to come out of it was Gayle's missed opportunity at going past Lara's record. Maybe it's meant to be in Trinidad - Lara's home - where the next two ODIs will be played. Do join us then. For now, it's goodbye!

It really, really doesn't look good at all.

14:56 Local Time, 18:56 GMT, 00:26 IST: With the hopes of a 20-20 clash still lingering, it has reduced to a very slight drizzle. But before you get your hopes up, you better get the drift of what the day has been thus far. The cut-off time is at 16:00 local, which is over an hour away to get things started.

14:37 Local Time, 18:37 GMT, 00:07 IST: Just as we'd hoped to know what was to happen of the covered outfield, the rain is back. It's been just that kind of a day, perfectly frustrating ..

The covers are coming off. Now, the real test begins.

14:16 Local Time, 18:16 GMT, 23:46 IST: Okay, the rains have stopped. But the problem was never the rain, it's what the rain leaves behind that you should be worried about. But the groundsmen were smart enough to cover the sawdust patches.

14:02 Local Time, 18:02 GMT, 23:32 IST: In relative terms, the rain has relented. In absolute terms, it'll be classified as a shower.

13:51 Local Time, 17:51 GMT, 23:21 IST: So the groundsmen aren't taking any chances this time, generously using up their sheets to cover up the entire square this time. Oh it's a pretty heavy downpour.

13:42 Local Time, 17:42 GMT, 23:12 IST: Oh dear! It has started to rain once again and we have another break. The groundstaff are back with the big covers, struggling against the massive wind.
